Sleeping a 5 hour stretch at night?!

DD slept for a 5 hour stretch last night! Not sure if that's ok (she's almost 6 lbs). I'm trying to decide if I should set my alarm for 3.5-4 hours tonight to avoid her sleeping so much. But then there is the "never wake a sleeping baby" thing. She's just so little and I'm not sure it's ok for her to go so long between feedings. Thoughts?

  • What did your pedi say? I call them and see what they think.

This exactly. We woke every three hours until the pedi said we could let them sleep.

  • I agree with everyone else, we asked the pedi.

Also I see you are pumping.  is she nursing at all? if so, she will make up for any lost feedings during the day but if you are feeding by bottle you may have to increase the bottle size for each feeding or add another feeding in during the day.  I would ask pedi about that as well if you call!

    yay for sleep!

She nurses every other feeding during the day....all other feedings are EBM for now.  She usually goes 3.5-4 hours at night, I was shocked about the 5 last night.  I have a call in to the pedi's office, just waiting to hear.  Thanks ladies!

  • Once she was steadily gaining weight our pedi encouraged us to let her sleep.  She consistently does 5 hours now and did 8.5 last night.  If your pedi gives you the ok enjoy the sleep!
