newborn feeding schedule

Just wondering what you and your SOs plans were regarding late night feedings. I'm out 10 more weeks but will eventually need to sleep too when I go back.

Don't know if you are BFing or FFing. But I am BFing and DH gets DS for me, I feed him and he burps him and puts him back to bed. This makes it so we are only up for about 10 minutes each feed. And there are still usually 3-4 night feeds at this point. I'm hoping to get some sleep again someday.

We would take turns. It was the fairest way, and the best way to make sure we each got at least a few hours of sleep in a row.

My DH is a night owl. So I go to bed around 10 and he stays up waiting for LO's first wake up around 1230 or 1. Then he's in bed by 2 and I get up for her next feeding around 5. She goes back down by 630 but I usually just stay up at that point. He gets up between 830 and 9.

I am BF'ing and pump a bottle per day for The feeding I sleep through. I get a little more sleep this way than he does but that was the way before we had a baby too. FWIW, I have not yet gone back to work. DH has.

I took the night shift before I went back to work.  Once I went back to work, DH took anything before 4:00 am, then I took anything after.  For the most part.  DH normally gets up for work around 5:15, so he'd take anything that would let him feed, then get back to sleep before getting up for real.

I work nights and DH works days.  On the nights when I was home, I'd get up so he could sleep, cause when I was at work he had to do all the feedings and still work the next day.  Usually on the weekends, I'd go to bed early and he's stay up late and take the first night feeding, that way we each got a stretch of sleep.  We tried to make it 'fair'.

my husband really can't function on less sleep and I can, so I normally took night feedings.  DH made bottles and did clean up.  If I was super beat, I'd go to bed really early (8:30) while DH stayed up until 11 or 12 and took those feedings, then after 12, I'd get up.

100% me.  I breastfed so no point in DH getting up.  Both kids starting sleeping through the night between 4 and 6 months of age so I managed until then.

I BF and I always got up with DS.  Maybe if I was dog tired after a few bad nights DH would help but I did it 95% of the time.  It gets hard but being a mom isn't easy.
