Sleepy behaviors

When my LO is tired he will rub his face into my shoulder so hard and if I let him he'll do it for a while.  If he doesn't nurse himself to sleep he'll only fall asleep up on my shoulder so it's hard to avoid this.  Recently I've been trying to make sure he rubs only on my skin because I'm worried he'll rub his little nose raw on my shirt.  I'm wondering if I should try to stop him by holding his head or just let him do it?  I know this can be a self soothing habit but it makes me sad to see his little nose red! TIA

    Maybe he's overtired? Try putting him down sooner.

    How long is he awake between naps?

    I definitely think he's overtired because he does it at night when he fights sleep pretty bad but he falls asleep at 11 every night pretty much since he was born.  He takes a pretty long nap soon after waking up in the morning but then just slightly naps after that.   

     

    I'm wondering if the face rubbing is something I should try and stop or just let him do it and eventually he'll get over it?
