Ok. So how did you go from the NICU every 3 hour schedule to your own schedule? and what is your schedule?
Our feedings are 12 - 3 - 6 - 9 so we were thinking the first step is maybe to move the 3am to a 4am and maybe the 6am to a 6:30am and see if he can handle that.... than maybe move the 12am to 11pm and the 9pm to an 8:30pm and see if he can handle that but Im not even sure when to start trying.
How old was your lo when you started adjusting times?
Our LO is a month old but he still hasnt even reached his due date... which is in two weeks.
Re: From every 3 hours to our schedule
We did on-demand when we brought her home. However, she had to eat a certain amount within a 24-hour period and not go more than 4 hours without eating. We didn't have to wake her often, and when we did it was usually in the early morning hours.
She always ate a LOT more in the afternoons/evenings than in the morning. I remember how worried I was at around 11am or 12pm noon when I thought she wouldn't make her quota. However, as DH said, she would kick it into high gear and cluster-feed in the evenings.
