Another spelling ?

Would you absolutely side eye the spelling Corben? I've done some research and have found some sources (not sure how reliable they are) that say Corben is Old French for Raven.

Well I know a Korben, so I guess I would side eye it less than I would that spelling, but I still prefer Corbin.  Is there a reason you prefer Corben or Corbin?

No real reason, our last name ends in "in" which bothers me a bit but not much.

No one pays attention to name meanings except for the parents.  And even then, it's probably only for a split second.  Don't let that be your decision-maker.

That being said, Corben isn't all that odd in this day-and-age.  I'd still prefer Corbin.  Your kid will likely get a lot of misspelled stuff in his life with Corben.

  • I don't like it.  What's wrong with the traditional spelling of Corbin?

I don't mind the raven meaning. It doesn't bother me. I have actually found out from some English family and friends that Corben is a pretty common spelling in Europe. I already mispelled my DD's name ;) Haha. Why not do it again, Just kidding! I like the look of Corben and the idea of the NN Benny. I am a little off the wall and different too so, ya know..... Haha! Decision, decisions!

Ohhhh...I would probably question which spelling too then.  Hmm...now I don't know...that kinda changes my thinking a tad.

We love the name so much and I feel like changng one letter in this case doesn't make it you-neek, ya know?

The name's closeness to the French word corbeau [crow] is one of the things I dislike about it, actually. I don't side eye but it's nms.

Personally, I believe that even changing one letter makes a name well on its way to yooneek. The family spelling you have [Corban, I think?] is one thing, but I don't agree with changing the spelling just for the sake of it. JMO.
