For those who have LO's w/silent reflux how did your Dr. diagnose it? How are you treating it? I am wondering if this is my LO's issue. He doesn't spit up but in the mornings and evenings he is extremely fussy and arches his back and squirms a lot. He can't fall asleep and will cry for hours. We have been saying it's Colic or gas and tried gas drops and gripe water but it didn't help him. I also do the 5 S's to get him to sleep and even that doesn't help during these extended fussy/ crying periods. He is EBF so it isn't a matter of changing bottles or formula and I have altered my diet to cut out caffeine and dairy.
Re: silent reflux?
Both of our DD's suffer from Acid Reflux.. and it's not silent.. although with DD2, it's much more subtle.. she does the same thing.. she cries, she winces.. you can see it come up her throat, and she swollows it back down and then cries for several seconds.. she arches her back etc.. it's so sad.. definitley talk to the Pedi.. ours is on baby zantac and it definitley helps the acidity levels.
DS1 had silent reflux. We had to have a GI Dr. diagnose it. Eventually he was put on Prevacid and we added rice cereal to his bottle as Zantac and Axid didn't help. But we only did the rice cereal under our GI's watchful eye.
The way I figured out we might need to see a GI was because we switched formula from a thicker one to a thinner one, and my baby who rarely spit up became a projectile spit-upper.
