Just spent 4 hrs putting dd to sleep...

Anyone else having a tough time getting their LO's to sleep?
I'm assuming it's part of the wakeful thing going on, but the last couple of days this lil gal wants to stay up and hang out!
So after her bath, book, fussy eating, rocking, more fussy eating, more rocking, etc...I realized nothing was working.
I put her in her swing and turned it on...the little diva conked out in two minutes.
Whatever gets us through the day, I guess!

  • This is one area I don't have a problem in. I just put AJ down. She was probably ready 20 minutes before her actual bedtime. I'm soooo glad she's got this routine down. FINALLY. Hopefully she doesn't get the 4 month awake period everybody has been talking about. With that said, I can do anything, and I mean anything, but she just won't nap any longer than 10 minutes.

  • Have you tried wearing your LO?  And to the pp...how is night time sleep?  If fine then please ignore...if not you might want to look into silent reflux/food intolerances.  My ds was the same way (10 min isn't a sleep cycle - ds would last 8)... Turns out that he had problems w dairy and gluten.  Our first pedi wasn't very knowledgeable le about food intolerances so she kept on dismissing my concerns....

She falls right asleep but as soon as I move her to put her down, she wakes up. She generally falls right asleep and we've been on the same routine since day one. She usually naps throughout the day as well. I'm chalking this up to a phase, I hope!!:)

I do wear LO occasionally while out and about. When should I wear her to help her with her nighttime sleep? Thanks!

  • Jamiah, I am having the exact same problem!  It takes me SO LONG to get DD to stay asleep.  She will fall asleep no problem right after eating, but as soon as I gingerly get up to put her in her crib she wakes up and SCREAMS.  It's almost as if she knows I am trying to trick her.

If I put her in her crib awake, she cries and screams until I pick her up (especially during nap time).  The babysitter can get her to fall asleep like this about 50% of the time, but I have never been able to do it.

    It is driving me crazy!

  • I sit on my exercise ball and bounce LO on there. It usually helps LO fall asleep, although lately its been more of a struggle. Hang in there!
  • Those LOs are sneaky. I still let LO nap on my lap. If I move her she wakes up right away. She is also having a hard time going back to sleep - it takes a couple of tries to get her back to sleep. By then, I am wide awake :(

  • After you get your LO ready for bed (fed, diaper, etc).  Then wear LO and go for a walk, dance around your house, clean, etc.  once your LO falls asleep you can either cont. to baby wear or wait 10+ min and put down for bed.

  • Yea it had been pretty bad lately. I think I need to work on drowsy but awake.
