Boogie Wipes?

We've been using little saline wipes from the hospital to clean LO's eyes since the one gets very gooey and then crusty. I'm not sure if we can buy them in the store since I haven't looked, but they're packaged like alcohol wipes.

Does anyone have experience with Boogie Wipes? In the event that we can't find what we're using, I THINK these will do, but I'm looking for confirmation from maybe a STM who has used them. I think they are just plain saline wipes if you get the unscented kind.

I'd use a damp washcloth but sometimes we have to go over the eye several times for a few minutes and I'm afraid of rubbing it raw with something rough.

Re: Boogie Wipes?

  • I used them on boogers for my older child. They work good to break up the gunk. I'd imagine as long as they're unscented and just saline they'd be fine. I have some thin, soft pieces of flannel that I wet and use to clean her eyes and nose.

  • Sounds like a possible clogged tear duct?  I probably wouldn't use them on the eye for fear of infection, but you could ask your doctor?  DD has a clogged duct and we just use a warm wash cloth and massage.  I was also told to put breast milk in her eye too, which seems to really help it.

  • I wouldn't use them...only because the name implies that they're exclusively for the nose. Call her pediatrician though if that's what you want to use.

  • Yes! I used them on my son when he was just a week old and had a clogged tear duct. I used the fresh scent because that's what I had on hand, and even with the scent, they are really gentle and helped to clean his eye quickly and easily. So far, I love them and plan on always having some on hand.

  • We had the same problem with Oliver's eye. We used a warm washcloth to wipe it a few times a day and we would also lightly massage the corner of his eye with the warm washcloth. The eye cleared up in about a week. It would get super crusty and gunky, to the point he couldn't open his eye at times. It never seemed to bother him too much and it didn't bother him when we wiped it. We just did it lightly with the washcloth and it never even looked red or raw after.
