Cloth Diapering

Poop becoming solid?

My LO started solids a month ago and his poop is getting thicker and stinker. I'm using liners but still get some poop paste near the leg gussets.

My question is when do they finally have solid poop I can plop off with the liner? Is a toilet sprayer a life changer?

Re: Poop becoming solid?

  • It only really happened for us in the last couple of months - 14 months or so? Depends how many solids he eats vs. how much milk.

    I loved my sprayer.

  • The sprayer definitely helps. DS eats solids three times a day and his poop is still pretty runny.

  • At 10 months sometimes it's ploppable and other times it's runny. He eats quite a few solids throughout the day.

The sprayer is a  lifesaver. I would not CD w/o one!

  • I use my shower head to spray in the toilet. I honestly don't know what we would have done without it when DD was cutting her molars and eye teeth and her poop went back to a softer texture again. There was no plopping then!

Yes!  DD generally has ploppable poop, but she's cutting eye teeth right now and it's very soft so we're back to using the sprayer.  Had to do the same thing when she got the first molars in.  I imagine it'll be the same with the 2nd year molars.  So, basically, just because poop will turn ploppable at some point doesn't mean it will stay that way all the time :)  I love my sprayer!

  • My LO's poops were ploppable about a month after she started solids, but she was and is a fantastic eater. I also started putting her on the toilet for her poops when she was 6 mos and we've rarely had poopy diapers since.
