We found out today that we are having another boy!! We are so excited and the name we have picked it Henry Charles but MiL and SIL hate it...

 Today they said "Well, we can just call him Hank."

I told my husband that it wasn't like we were naming him carrot.

Is the name that bad?

Henry Charles is awesome. 

FWIW, I actually like Hank as a NN, but forcing a NN on a baby against the parents' will is douchey, whatever the name.

Absolutely not. Henry is one of our top two names for a boy.

It's usually never a good idea to run favorite name ideas by family. Chances are there will be someone with a negative opinion and what good will that do if it's the name you've chosen?

the name is not my style but it is not horrible. Your family should respect your choice. It's very rude not to and can be confusing and stressful for the child.

It's a great name and if they call him Hank, just correct them and say his name is Henry (unless you are OK with Hank, but I prefer Henry).

I have two friends who recently named their sons Henry. It's a wonderful name.

I'm not really a fan of either name, however, I think they sound great together, so honestly... screw what MIL and SIL say!!

I love the name!  It was one of the contenders if DD was a boy.  And I gasped in horror when I read that your in laws would call him Hank.  What a-holes.
