How long do you usually have to wait to see the dr on regular on visits? Today I have waited 1 hour in the waiting room before they brought me back and so far an hour and 45 minutes and the dr has yet to come in.
Depends on the day. I've waited 5 minutes, and I've waited for almost 2 hours before. However, the practice I went to is the only one in our area (like for hours around), so I didn't have another option.
In the practice I go to, it depends on the day, time of day and DR/MW. I wait longer for the Dr than the MW, typically. I've found late at night or early morning has the shortest wait times.
It really depends on how busy the practice is that you go to. I've never waited more than 10 minutes for my doctor but I may be one of the lucky ones in that sense.
I usually wait 5-10 min. in the waiting room and maybe 10 minutes in the exam room for the doctor. The one time I waited 15 min. they apolozed profusely! I love my OB's office!!
WOW!!! Id be SUPER mad if I were you! I always thought my Dr was bad (usually 5-10mins in the waiting room then another 5-10mins in the actual room to see the dr).
It varies widely. Like PP, I've waited 10 minutes and I've waited 2 hours. It really just depends. It's just the nature of OB offices, emergencies are going to come up, and it's going to be really hard to stay on schedule sometimes. I've also been the one who caused my doctor to get backed up, and trust me, if you are the one needing extra attention, you will be glad to have it.
However, if this is happening EVERY time, you might talk to your OB's nurse or the scheduler and see if there's a good time to try to make your appointments for.

Wow 5 to 10 minutes would be a dream! It is like this every single visit. I have debated switching practices but am a little worried since I am already 21 weeks. Today might just give me the nerve to do it.
Usually, it's about 15-20 minutes in waiting room, but then 5-10 minutes in the exam room. Last time, though, I waited 30 minutes in the waiting room and 45 minutes in the exam room. Not my favorite thing, but the doctor that I met that night was my FAVORITE so far (never been to this practice before pregnancy, but I might want this lady to by my GYN after this) so it was all worth it. The long waits are pretty common for my area, so I'm used to it.
I usually wait on average 30 minutes, then once I get in the room another 20-30 from the time I get in- the nurse comes in and does her stuff and I have ample time to get at least halfway through People. Her office is in the same building as L&D, so she can pop up/down to L&D or to discharge at any time so sometimes she gets backed up. Sorry for the long wait time, if it's a constant issue you might ask the scheduler if there's a time of day the she's normally on track due to your scheduling needs... Good luck!
I wait less than 10 minutes in the waiting room (unless I am early). Then I wait maybe 5-10 minutes in the exam room after the nurse leaves.
There was one time I waited longer for the dr to come into the exam room. Maybe 1/2 hour. But my nurse told me right away that he was on the phone with a high risk patient. And when he came in he apoligized and asked if I was okay with a quick exam or if I'd rather come in another time (he had to rush to meet his patient at the hospital).
This. I stick around because I LOVE my OB. Without any hesitation, I trust him 100% with my life and my child's life. I have never EVER felt rushed and he entertains every question I have, however stupid they may be.

I wait 20 mins. at most in the waiting room, then I wait 5-10 mins in the exam room
I would not wait 30 mins after being in the exam room.. that's ridiculous. I understand sometimes things happen, and I don't mind waiting in the waiting room a little longer most days, but I hate being left in the exam room
The first few times I went on a Thursday morning (like the 2nd appointment of the day) and waited about 75 to 90 minutes just in the wait room then another 10-15 in the exam room. It pissed me off. I now go on Tuesday mornings and still wait 20 minutes, but that's a heck of a lot better.
The longest I've waited was 30 minutes from being weighed in the beginning to the Dr. knocking on the door to come into the examine room. The wait was this long because this was her first day back from a 2 week long vaca. Other days no longer than 15 minutes however I tend to arrive early just in case they can take me early. Every Dr.'s office is different. Knowing me if I was not IN LOVE with my OBGYN I would be looking for another Dr. I dislike waiting for this like this.
For my GP, it's normal to wait an hour/hour and a half but he's worth the wait. My OB, I've never waited more than 20 minutes.
Is this the first time you've waited this long? Is it possible your doctor had a birth that pushed things back? My OB office has a sign that says it is possible appointment times may be pushed back if the doctor is called away for a birth.
I typically wait 10 to 15 minutes in the waiting room, then another 10 to 15 minutes in the patient room... I have waited up to two hours total because I was told my OB was in the middle of a delivery. I totally have patience for that because if it was me that was delivering I would want my Dr to drop everything and come get this baby out! I think there are always those days were there is an emergency, but sometimes its not communicated well.

I have waited over an hour before once with my OB for DD and once with this OB and both times the doctors were delivering babies as the OB office is at the hospital. So I wasn't upset because obviously if it was me having the baby I would want my doctor more concerned with me than anyone else at that time. Normally though I would say my total wait is not over 10-20 min.
If I arrive pretty much on time, about 15 minutes before my appt, I have just enough time to pee in the cup, sit down in the waiting room, check my phone and then I get called back. I normally wait less than 5 minutes in the room as well.
My doctor is part of the university system though so they have students there, etc. My doctor has set days to be in the office and then set days to be at the hospital so he never really has to run and deliver a baby meaning he is most often on time.
I would assume there was some big emergency, but you should be told. I usually have to wait in the morning because that's when c-sections are scheduled. If something happens, they run behind. I'm usually told if there is a big wait.
Yesterday I had an appointment and waited in a paper gown for 30 minutes until the doctor got there. I was pissed. When I told my H, he called and complained. If it happens again, I am switching doctors. Talk to your nurse or doctor if it continues to happen. And you can switch late. I switched at 26 wks with my first.
Throughout my entire pregnancy I had to wait an hour each time. It really made me PO'ed. The only time I could get in maybe 30 minutes after my regular scheduled time was if I went really early in the morning. I had to pay the 10% fee for my doctor delivering my baby up front so I couldn't switch but if I hadn't I would have switched doctors so fast.
I don't usually wait more than 15 extra min in the waiting room, and then once in the exam room it depends. I've never waited more than 1/2 hour though. Our last appt yesterday the doc came right out and brought us into the room herself and saw us right away.
I don't mind waiting for her because she really takes her time with me and talks to me about stuff, and I know that if she's a little late it's because she's doing the same thing with her other patients. However 1 h 45 min is pretty out there. I don't think I've ever waited that long to get in to any doctor.
Lurking, but it also depends on the size of the practice. With DD the city we lived in only had 3 practices, so you waited in the waiting room for about an hour, then another 20-30 minutes in the exam room. If the Dr.was out on a delivery, or emergency then you waited longer.
With DS it was a much smaller practice, and you waited maybe 10 minutes in the waiting room, and 20 minutes in the exam room.
If it is too long of a wait, try to be strategic. Ask for appointments first thing in the morning or just after they get back from lunch. My GP has made me wait over an hour before. I haven't also been afraid to tell them after a long wait that I have other appointments or commitments and leave the appointment. They can't charge you for a missed appointment this way and you get some quicker service at the next appointment because they feel bad about the last time.
It seems like no matter what time I go I always have to wait between 30 minutes to 1 hour. The office I go to is very packed though. I'm supposed to go every 4 weeks but all my appointments are 5-6 weeks apart. It's crazy but I've seen the same doctor with all my pregnancies. I trust him and won't change so it's the price I pay. I hear a lot that people wait way longer than their appointment time. I did learn though that Tuesday and Wednesday are surgery days so their busier. I try not to schedule for those days.
Our first appointment, we waited nearly 2 hours! The appointments after that were about 30-45 minutes. I've learned the secret though... now I schedule either the first appointment (7:45) or the last appointment (4:45) and I usually get in within minutes!
If its a super well known and popular dr., I've noticed wait times to be a bit longer. My OB I had with my first baby some days I was seen right away, other times I would have to wait for 30-60 mins. This time, I have a relatively new to the scene OB with a growing, but still small-ish practice and I wait MAYBE 5 mins when I see her, and about another 5 mins before she comes in the room after I'm taken back and vitals checked.
If I'm just there for a regular appointment, 5-10 minutes in the waiting room. If I'm getting an ultrasound, it sometimes takes up to 30-45 minutes because there are only 2 u/s techs and sometimes the earlier appointments go longer.
Once in the room, things go relatively quickly, but the longest I've waited in the room was 20 minutes.
I try to schedule first appointment after lunch or first appointment of the day to avoid waiting.... I usually wait less than 5 min to go back and less than 5 for the midwife to come in...

Usually my wait is no longer than 10 minutes but one day he was in delivery and took about two hours to see me. Fortunately, in that time, the techs were taking my blood and measurements and stuff but it was still a long wait.
Yeah... My last experience was hell on earth because they had appointments for two weeks there due to Hurrican Isaac. Usually though I wait 10-15 minutes to head back and then I am (unfortunately) stuck back there for at least an hour. It's a b!tch, but I take a nap on the examination table.

I have a lot of practices in my area, and a lot of major hospitals so, I guess that makes a difference.
I wait about 10-15 minutes and 99% of the time, the doctor/midwife is back to see me right away.
