moms with kids and down syndrome

Hey Ladies

i am new to this board i have a 5 year old and just recently (less then a week ago) Had a precious little girl! she is my heart my pride and my joy and so happy she is here. At the hospital they told us she had several traits of  Down Syndrome, We went yesterday to get her blood drawn. She is a beautiful little girl and i will love her unconditionally, because hubby and i are new at this.I have goggled information i just am curious from moms who actually have kids with downs with downs how were they as infants?

Hi!! I have a daughter who just turned 3 in August. DD was early and stayed in the NICU for a little over 6 weeks. She had 3 heart defects and bad lungs, but not every baby will be this way. DD was very sick due to these things as an infant. She got off oxygen at 18 months and has only had to go back on a few times when she has gotten pretty sick.

Most of the babies we have met though have been perfectly healthy!! DD was an easy baby, always pretty mellow and happy. She was pretty similar to her brothers that way.

DId they say how long you would have to wait for the results? Did they find any issues with her little heart? I would love to see a picture of her!

Congratulations!!

 Lauren has Down syndrome. She's 7 months old. She is amazing! She had open heart surgery in March at 6 weeks old. Today you would never even know it. We get early intervention therapy through the school district once a week but other than that life is totally normal.

They have not found issues with her heart and hopeing they don't. She is such a sweet girl and so far vey mello I am unsure how to download pics but she is in my profile pic it was taken just days after she was born.

congrats!  my son with Ds is 5 and he was the PERFECT baby.  always happy, hardly ever cried.  he met all this milestones up until about 6 months then the delays started to show i.e. he didn't sit up until 9 months.  they are a joy when they are babies and i hope your daughter is blessed with good health!!
