Rec your bibs, please!

I'm officially over the million cloth bibs we have with velcro that hardly works anymore until you wash them and they all stick to each other and everything else in the wash. I guess I wouldn't mind the cloth, and would actually prefer them for when the next LO starts solids, but I hate the velcro and it seems like that's all I see when I go looking. So, I guess I'm looking for something that works well for the mess of this age and does a good job of catching dropped food as well as non-velcro bibs that are well-suited for early eaters. Please share what you've had and been happy with! TIA!

Re: Rec your bibs, please!

  • We use these bibs for eating (purees, solids). They're pretty good.

I loved these for when he was younger. We didn't use them for feeding (except bottles) but for several months there, we had him in a bib 24/7 because of the spit up/drool and these were great.

Both of the above are velcro - I know you asked for something else. The velcro on the cloth bibs was fine in the beginning - it's only now that it's sticking to everything, but we barely use those anymore. We will have to replace them for the next baby. For the feeder bibs, they are velcro, but never a problem because we don't put them in the washer.

  • I bought a pack of these at Target and loved them so much I went and got a second set. They are easy to wipe up or rinse in the sink and when they do need to be washed I toss them in the washer and hang dry them.

  • I use the same Bumkins waterproof bibs that the above poster linked. I've been using them during mealtimes for months and like them. They seem to be good quality. I do put them in the washing machine with other laundry but I put the velcro strips together and they don't come apart during washing.

  • One of Evie's little friends has these bibs and they don't have velcro.  https://www.amazon.com/BABYBJORN-Soft-Bib-Pack-Blue/dp/B0002OT00U/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1347468817&sr=8-2&keywords=baby+bjorn+bib

Like march said, I have velco and I put it together before washing but it still comes out stuck to stuff sometimes.

  • We have one of these and I like it for solid food catching. It isn't the best for sauces and yogurt and that kind of stuff, so sometiems I layer an old newborn soft bib underneath for that stuff (or just lose the shirt!)

  • We have 2 like this one. They're velcro but we don't wash them very often. I just wipe them down after each meal and wash them about once a week. The velcro is pretty strong, too, so I haven't had problems with them sticking to other clothes in the washer as long as they're closed when I put them in.

ITA with you about the cloth bibs. They're a pain. Do you have a snap press or a friend who has one? You could convert them to snaps pretty easily. I might do that for the next baby.

  • We have several of the Bumkins SuperBibs. Love them. I usually hand wash them in the sink after dinner with the sippy cups. I let them soak in the hot, soaping water for a few minutes, them rub it together in my hands and hang it to dry (though I've started popping them in the dryer for 10 minutes recently). They have held up great, though DS does pull if off at the end of the meal.

I'm thinking about trying their Junior Bibs (maybe a Christmas gift?), reviews say they are harder to get off.

  • I have literally tried every single one of the above bibs...haha.

I found some at Walmart after Luke was born that were waterproof, snap closure, pocket.  Bought a set of two, and then they discontinued them.  UGH.  Recently found them again at a Burlington Coat Factory/Baby Depot.

I do LOVE the ones by this seller on etsy, though.  Have five of them. They're awesome.  Pricier than the ones listed above, but they've survived BOTH my boys so far, which is saying something.  Worth every penny.  She'll made a bigger, toddler size, too, if you ask her to.  They're so cute and so well-made.

    edited for clarity.

  • Bumkins SuperBibs.  Ours have held up very well.  I wash them in the washer and hang them to dry overnight.  No problems with the velcro at all.

We use the same ones and I love them, they are easy to clean and I don't have to worry about mildew or mold, like I did with those plastic ones with the fabric backs.

  • Thanks everyone, those etsy bibs are super cute! I'll have to look at the options a little more closely and successfully thin our current stash out. It'd be nice to just have a couple bibs for each kiddo instead of the big bin of annoying bibs. I think my mom has a snap press so we could convert some of the nicer cloth ones for the new baby, I hadn't thought of that, so thanks!
