Thoughts on Harvey

Harvey is my DH's middle name, and was his grandfather's name. I know it's fashionable in the UK, and I always love British names (I have spent a lot of time in the UK, and may be moving there within the next year).

Originally, I hated it, but it's kind of growing on me. Not pregnant, just wanted to hear what the general population thinks of it :)

My brother's middle name (and two of my Uncles' names) is David. I thought Harvey David sounded nice.

Re: Thoughts on Harvey

  • I really like Harvey! It would be adorable on a young boy and very handsome on an adult. I also love that it's uncommon, so you wouldn't have to worry about Harvey sharing his name with three other boys in his class. However, I wouldn't use David as the middle name, because it sounds too close to Harley Davidson.

  • I prefer David Harvey
  • I'm kind of sitting on the fence with this one. Don't hate it but don't love it. I think with some time I would come around.

It seems like you normally have a more classic/ old fashioned style and I think of those style of names I like this one more then most I've heard.

  • It reminds me of an old movie "Harvey", where the main character had an imaginary friend, Harvey, a 6 foot rabbit. It's a positive association for me.

  • It's okay. I like Howard (Howie) a lot more and feel like they have a similar vibe. I'd keep it in the MN spot.

  • I automatically think Sabrina the Teenaged Witch, but rest assured I'm probably the only one. I'm not crazy about the name, but it's definitely not side eye worthy either! I would like it more as a middle name paired with a more traditional first name.

  • Dislike Harvey as a FN. If you must use it, make it a MN imo.

  • I would always think Harvey Dent. Two face Dent is not someone I would like to name my kid after. It's a nice name, but I always associate it to that. Bringing out the nerd in me.

Bahahaha, I thought of Sabrina too!

     I don't like Harvey.

  • My main association with this is my grandma's dog, but I still really like it. I also tend to love the names that are popular in England.

  • I taught a real brat named Harvey when I lived in England. Just thinking about him puts me in a bad mood.
