QOTW: Anyone planning or have gone on a babymoon? If yes, where are you going/did you go and what are you doing/did you do?
No planned babymoons but we have gone to Vegas this summer and a trip "up North" to a resort. We travel a bit so nothing out of the ordinary. Was hoping to squeeze in a NY trip. Doesn't look like that is going to happen. Our friends who live in NY are traveling this month and Oct no flt is quickly approaching

Glucose test this week. Hope I pass. Had to take it early due to family history. Failed one hour but passed 3 hour. Really don't want to do the 3 hour again.
Very frustrated with in-laws right now. We have decided not to share the names we have picked out. Just about every time we see anyone they are bugging us for the names. Just drop it. We are not spilling it!

Updates/vents: I took the 2hr GTT on Friday. My numbers weren't great, but I checked my sugars all weekend and they were normal, so who the heck knows. I'll get the results later today. I pray I don't have GD, it would pretty much push me over the edge. This pg has been way too hard already and I really need to catch a break. Between DS and myself I have been to the Hospital/ER 7x in the past 13w. The last thing I need is more dr's appts, trips to the dietician and insulin injections. Any prayers and positive thoughts about this GD thing would be greatly appreciated. I'll update when I get my test results.
Lots of positive thoughts and prayers that you pass

No babymoon planned. My dr moved me to the " high risk" category today because I continue to have swelling following severe ovarian hyperstimulation following IVF. I am totally exhausted and still am nauseated all day. Not fun. I would love to sleep all day. On the positive side, the baby is looking great and is measuring 5 days ahead.
I am sorry you are now "high risk", but glad you are getting extra monitoring and close supervision. Better safe than sorry. Yay, for a big strong baby that is ahead of the curve at this point. Take it easy mama, hopefully you'll get an energy surge soon!

QOTW: we are taking our normal Christmas trip, slightly modified, as I will be seven months. We always go camping in Botswana, and I won't miss that for the world. However, we will stay in chalets instead of our tent, and stay out of malarial areas. Bummer, but it will still be lovely to be in the bush. Plus, last year, it flash flooded a couple of times while we were camping - all part of the adventure, but I'm secretly happy to be a wimp this year. The camps are all about a five hour drive from home, so not too bad - we can stop for lunch, stop for coffee, etc.
Wow, I can't imagine camping in Africa...I'm sure it's incredibly amazing. Good call on the chalet though, keep mama and baby comfy!

GL on your GTT. I failed the 1hr this time around, but my levels weren't horrible, so my doc sent me for the 2hr instead of the 3hr and I passed the 2hr with flying colours. Maybe you should just ask your doc to send you for the 2hr from the get go? As for the inlaws and name thing, tell them you are naming the baby some horrible, awful name "Our baby's name is ____" and that you aren't going to change your mind and leave it at that. Then when baby arrives, reveal their true name.

thanks EM....I got my results this am and I passed the 2hr with flying colours. Thank the good Lord. And from your lips to Gods ears about the rest of this pg being easy on me. I keep hoping and praying.
Congrats on the passing results of the GD test! Sounds like things are already moving int he right direction to ease the rest of your pg!
Congratulations on passing the two hour GTT with great numbers, Benoitfan!!!
I think we may try to go to the Cape overnight in October. It will be their off season, so hopefully a B&B wouldn't require a two night stay (which they sometimes do traveling on the weekends). And we're still thinking of going to Chicago for Thanksgiving. Thinking. It involves DH's mother & her husband, and I'm not big fans of theirs, especially for extended periods of time in confined spaces. LOL. DH's cousin has offered up his place, so we wouldn't have to stay where my MIl & her husband are staying. We've never traveled on a plane with DD, so doing it when I'm 25 weeks pregnant doesn't really appeal to me. We'll see though!
No real updates or vents. Results from the NT scan were good for T21 and even better for T18 so I think we're going to skip any amnio. I do need to call my OBs office and see about the 2nd tri quad blood test though. Had my first appointment with the diabetes center last Friday! Looking at my chart from my PG w/DD, I was insulin at 14 weeks with her! I couldn't believe it was that early. Anyway, my fasting numbers are high, so I'm sure at my appointment next Friday, I'll be back on the insulin.

QOTW: Anyone planning or have gone on a babymoon? If yes, where are you going/did you go and what are you doing/did you do?
We went to Chicago for a weekend and stayed in a suite at a spa hotel. Went out for a few nice dinners, I had a great prenatal massage, slept in, ordered room service, took naps. We made it all about relaxing for a few days, and that was perfect! I, too, wish it could be a week in Mexico, but I am grateful we got away for a short time.

No babymoon this time around. We went on one with our first, but it is harder with two little kids. We will be taking baby on annual Anniversary overnight in June
Sorry I'm so late--- first week back at school with students--- I'm lucky I've kept my eyes open long enough to eat dinner much less get any Bump time.
No baby moon for us unless you count our regular summer vacation to Captiva.
Updates: officially diagnosed with GD. It sucks. Had 3 drs appts. Tues--- first two to learn diet and 2nd to learn blood monitoring. It's not easy--- diet is challenging, especially being back at work. Testing blood 2 hours after eating snack or meal is tough too....I'm alone in classroom this year....during the day I have kids in the room. Hard to say sorry boys and girls can you wait 5 min while I test my blood? But... I'm managing. Have great numbers the last 2 days.
Last appt. on Tues was my regular OB. My appt. was for 6:00 pm. He notoriously runs late (great doc--spends time with you). Needless to say, I saw him at 9:15 pm....yes, after a long first day of school with students. I was ready to curl up on the waiting room chairs and go to sleep!
I did have my 28 week sono---all great! Baby was measuring just about two weeks ahead. A little over 3.5 pounds! Baby is pretty much head down. Saw a head of hair and a foot (now I know what's been jabbing me in my right side!). This little one was moving up a storm! Very, very cool!
Benoit....glad you did not have GD! Great news to hear! Hopevthecrest goes smoothly for you!
QOTW: Anyone planning or have gone on a babymoon? If yes, where are you going/did you go and what are you doing/did you do?
We went to Turks and Caicos when I was 26 weeks along. It was heaven and hell. Lol. It was lovely to sleep in but there were nights I didn't sleep at all. It was super hot and humid. We'd been there before and I had no issues with the humidity but being pregnant made it so much worse. I was pretty much a sweaty mess the whole time.
The good parts were the buffet (I loved having a taste of lots of different things.) Plus having someone else do the cooking and the clean up is seriously heaven for me. Also, I loved swimming in the ocean every day. I definitely got plenty of exercise...I ate whatever I wanted including dessert and only gained 1 lb.

I have 10 days to my due date!!! I had my OB appt on Tuesday and my cervix is soft but I'm not dilated. Aug 31 was my last day at work. I took last weekend to catch up on rest and this last week I worked around the house. My MIL arrives this coming Tuesday and I'm pretty excited. I did NOT like being by myself all week last week and it was only 4 days!
It's been a while since I checked in! I am chugging along at 34 1/2 weeks. BH are really frequent, I think it's from picking up my 2 year old too much. She's persistent. Have an anatomy scan on tuesday, looking forward to seeing my little man.
Had a baby moon in July. DH had a conference in Vancouver so I met him out there. Rained a lot but it was cool and I loved it. The heat this summer was a killer!
M/C Nov 9, 2011 at 11 weeks.... We love you & miss you
No babymoons here - we're lucking to use the bathroom alone at this house
Amen sister! Lol... That's the trade off for the joys of a big family. Our date nights consist of bribing the oldest to babysit and taking a bike ride to the lake to sit in the quiet and snuggle. Leaving town isn't an option. Maybe in about 18 years!
We go for our first u.s. on Thursday the 13th. We are excited to see our little pea!
Lucky Mom to 5 girls: 09/97, 06/99, 10/02, 11/04, 04/08 & Peanut #6 due in April!
We will modify our normal Christmas trip to adjust for the fact that I'll be seven months pregnant, so that's our babymoon. We normally go on a week's safari in Botswana, camping and hitting the dodgy muddy rainy season 4x4 tracks.
This year, we've decided to stay out of malaria areas, and stay in chalets instead of our tent. The camps we chose aren't far, maybe a five hour drive, max. We are also going to skip the walking safaris in big game areas. It'll still be a blast.
Had a scary weekend with the worst cramping I've ever experienced. It turns out that it is large fibroids, one of which underwent degeneration. Not harmful to baby or to me, but extremely painful, and they're not going anywhere. So, I have five months of on and off pain to deal with. The nice man gave me excellent drugs. I won't use them unless I must, but it's nice to have the option. BUt, baby is healthy!
