Re: PG>35 weekly check-in

  • No babymoons here - we're lucking to use the bathroom alone at this house ;)

Another ultrasound this morning. checking what we couldn't see at 20wks & hopefully finding out who we're getting.

  • QOTW: Anyone planning or have gone on a babymoon? If yes, where are you going/did you go and what are you doing/did you do? Not really- saving vacation time and extra pennies for baby :)

Updates or vents? Had our first U/S last week at almost 9 weeks. I was really expecting the worst and was amazed when the tech turned on the U/S screen and we saw a baby in there! Have my next doc appt and NT scan/genetic counseling appt all in the next 3 weeks. So that's the next nervous hurdle to overcome.

  • QOTW:  We aren't planning anything, although I wish we were.  I could so use a vacay right about now, but DH is saving all his vacay for hunting season and when the baby comes.  Maybe we could get the inlaws to keep DS#1 for a weekend and we could go to Niagara Falls or Toronto or Buffalo for a couple of days.  All those places are within a 2hr drive.  We'll see.

Updates/vents:  I took the 2hr GTT on Friday.  My numbers weren't great, but I checked my sugars all weekend and they were normal, so who the heck knows.  I'll get the results later today.  I pray I don't have GD, it would pretty much push me over the edge.  This pg has been way too hard already and I really need to catch a break.  Between DS and myself I have been to the Hospital/ER 7x in the past 13w.  The last thing I need is more dr's appts, trips to the dietician and insulin injections.  Any prayers and positive thoughts about this GD thing would be greatly appreciated.  I'll update when I get my test results.

  • No babymoon here either.  I took enough time off work getting pregnant that it would be a little unfair to my coworkers if I took off for a babymoon.  We will probably do a few weekends out of town before the baby gets here but nothing grand.

Updates: Nothing new here.  Time is still crawling along.

Hubbies parents are sending us to their new loft in Baltimore for a weekend of our choice, but we need to find child care first! Otherwise we are saving pennies and vaca time for baby.

Just got back from my 9 week ultrasound! Handled the blood draw well, baby looks perfect and at 9 weeks 1 day, a little small for my 9 weeks 4 days. Siblings are going to be so excited! Not sleeping well and still losing weight, but just yesterday ate my first full meal without feeling like death afterwards, and am halfway through lunch and still feeling good today.

Nope... no babymoon for us. we had planned to head out to my FIL's for Memorial Day weekend, but my SIL's water broke and FIL came here instead. That was the last long weekend we had before it got too close to due date. Now I'm hoping for a quick out of towner before I come back to work.

Your potential babymoon sounds alot like what ours will be if we have one.  I wish it was a week in Mexico or the Dominican, but alas, not in the budget this  year.  We are hoping for a hot vacay next November for our 1 yr anniverary.  My mom will come watch the kiddos so we can have some alone time.  I think by then we will have completely forgotten what that is! LOL.

Hope time starts speeding up for you soon.  2nd tri passed alot faster than first tri did for me, that's for sure.

We're not officially going on a babymoon but we are planning on going to Cali for a long weekend in October to attend one of our best friend's baby shower. We'll be able to leave DS with my parents and have a night to ourselves while we're there but that's about it. Looking forward to the quick trip to see friends and family before the new baby arrives.

Sorry you didn't get your little getaway before baby.  I can't believe you are 38w already.  Seems like you haven't been here long enough for that.  Anytime now Adi...and FTR, you can get plenty more excited.  I can't wait for you to experience the love and joy when you hold your lo for the first time, there is NOTHING like it.

That sounds like fun.  Always nice to catch up with friends and family.  Also nice to get a night off from DS, especially when they don't happen often.  You miss 'em like crazy, but its always good for some mommy and daddy alone time too.  GL at your a/s next week.  I hope baby is very co-operative and not shy about showing the goods.  GL.

  • QOTW:
Not planning any babymoons. Though we do seem to be deemed insane enough to go through with a couple more busy weekends, the last being a drive from MD to GA at the end of the month (at 34 weeks) for a convention. Lots of friends will be there and, while there is a very unlikely chance of early labor considering history, I will bring my hospital bag anyway... just in case.
All of October should be comfortable stay at home time (between work, of course) to finish doing house stuff and getting our family ready for the final stretch until the new addition!

    Updates/Vents:
Crazy times means renewed exhaustion, but I seem to be finally gaining more energy. Thursday will be my next u/s to check LO's growth and orientation. I'll finally get to see if he really is growing bigger than DD had, or if it's just the difference of having started out about 15 lbs lower this time around.
Oh, and I've starting hoping for delivery just so I can occasionally have a break from wriggly little boy. Wink

  • Hi - can you add me? I always seem to miss the check-in. Mondays are kind of crazy for me.

    your screen name: Pillowass
    due date: Dec. 2

    sex of baby: b/g twins

DH and I went to BC in June, knowing that it was going to be our last trip in awhile. I was 16 weeks and it was perfect because I was feeling pretty good and not very limited in terms of movement/activities. Now I am huge and we are staying in town for the duration.

Update: My doctor has placed me on "restricted activity" due to shortened cervix (it was 2cm at 26 weeks, down from 2.7 at 24 weeks). Trying to take it easy, working from home, and remembering to be thankful that 1) I am pregnant and 2) I am not on bed rest. I think I would rather go through labor twice than be on bed rest for even 1 week!

  • Hi ladies I've been Mia lately but I'm back. We took a baby moon to the Texas hill country back in June but no plans to take any other vacations until next May. I have another level 2 growth scan next week to make sure baby boy is growing well and that he doesn't have any growth restriction like his big brother did. I'll keep y'all posted on the results.

  • benoitfan, I hope you don't have GD. The rest of this pregnancy needs to be easy on you!

QOTW:  Anyone planning or have gone on a babymoon? I wish. We were thinking of a weekend trip to the Cape or somewhere upstate, but I'm getting worried about finances when the baby is here and feel like it might be wasteful right now.

Updates or vents? I get winded so easily these days. And can't breathe comfortably anymore. I realized there are still over 10 weeks to go and it's only going to get harder.

  • Hi Ladies,

No babymoon planned for us.  We will probably head back home for Thanksgiving to spend time with our families, who live on the beach in FL so I guess we could consider it a mini babymoon if we leave DD with one of the grandparents for a night.

The only update I have is that I can't stop eating! I've found that eating makes my ms feel better so I eat all day long, and it's not very healthy food.  Oh and I've stopped going to the gym until I'm sure the baby's made it thru the first tri so I just feel like everything is heading south :( Oh well, thats pregnancy for me.

I hope you all have a wonderful week!

    QOTW:

Wink

You are braver than I to make that trip so late.  Good idea to bring the hospital bag...if you bring it you won't need it!  When pg with DS#1, I wouldn't travel 5hrs in the last month.  Granted, I had to deal with the risk of snow.

Hope you keep your energy level up.

Hi - can you add me?

You have been added.  If you miss the check-in on Monday, it's ok to reply later in the week.  The board isn't too busy and the post is usually just part way down the first page for the week.

Isn't BC beautiful.  I was there a few years ago in May and desperately want to go back (and bring DH and possibly the kids next time).  Restricted activity is better than bedrest, but if you do too much, bedrest will be the next call.  Hopefully you are still far away from that possibility, although I don't think hospital bedrest is uncommon with multiples.  Hang in there....oh and FTR, labour can be MUCH worse than bedrest, trust me!

Welcome to the check-in.  As for what a babymoon is, it's a vacation for the expectant parents so they can have some quality alone time before baby arrives, when alone time will become a thing of the past for at least a while!

thanks EM....I got my results this am and I passed the 2hr with flying colours.  Thank the good Lord.  And from your lips to Gods ears about the rest of this pg being easy on me.  I keep hoping and praying.

I understand the finances thing, but even if you could swing at night at a B&B or maybe a weekend away, that would be great for you.  Also, I hear ya on the more than 10w to go and how hard it is already.  My back/pelvis/hips are killing me and I know the back pain for me will get much worse once baby drops, or even gets in a head down position.  I am pretty sure he is transverse/breach bum first right now.  I just hope time keeps flying by!

I was like that for about 8w in 1st tri.  I gained 5lbs in first tri and with my previous pg, I gained nothing til about 18w.  Once the nausea let up, I was able to make better choices, but Carbs and take-out were my friends in first tri.  You are almost in 2nd tri so things should improve soon.  Hang in there.

  • QOTW:  Anyone planning or have gone on a babymoon?  If yes, where are you going/did you go and what are you doing/did you do?

It wasn't originally planned as a babymoon but we are going to Fiji on Sept 16 for a week and then California for another week. I realized that I haven't taken more than 2 days off in a row the entire year and NEED a break.

    Updates or vents?

We had our A/S last week and everything looked perfect. I had declined earlier genetic testing to the closer the scan got the more I started the "What If Game".  Thank goodness things look so wonderful and we found out we are having a boy. I thought for SURE it was a girl.

So much for a mothers intuition. LOL

  • Ah, yes, that makes much more sense. I'm thinking "Why the heck would I want to schlep a newborn off somewhere?"

DH and I are spending a week in California at the end of October. Should be 17 weeks or so at that point, so hopefully I will be feeling good and able to enjoy myself.

Nope, no babymoon.  We thought about it, but ultimately decided to really splurge on nursery furniture instead.  It lasts longer!

    Updates or vents?

Less than 5 weeks to go!  GD seems under control (except when I'm bad and eat something I know I shouldn't - like a vegetable wrap sandwich lacking in protein and pita bread).  I feel like we're always busy - between getting the nursery ready, prepping for a yard sale, and taking a bazillion classes (birthing class, parenting class, infant care class, and breastfeeding class) - it's like I never have a free evening anymore.  I'm trying to focus on work, but I'm at the point where I just don't care.  I've given myself 3 projects to finish before leaving for 4.5 months of maternity leave.  One is 90% finished, and the other two have a ways to go.  Hope I can do it!

Ok, can I say that I am SUPER JEALOUS!  Fiji, that's a dream destination for sure.

As for mother's intuition (I don't think it applies to "knowing gender".  With our first, I wanted a boy very badly, but I was sure Murphy's law was going to come to pass, so we picked a girls name the day before our a/s and got prepared for team pink.  Ended up baby #1, was definitely all boy.

This time around, my pg, was completely different than last time, so I was convinced it was a girl.  So convinced that when I had a sneak peek u/s at 14.5 w and the doc told me it was I boy, I didn't believe him.  Well, at our 19w scan, it was VERY apparent, again we have a boy!

Glad your GD is under control and can I just say....it really sounds like you could use a babymoon, you are sooo busy.  I can tell you will be a practical mom (giving up a babymoon for furniture).  Hope life calms down a bit so you can relax a smidge before lo arrives in 5 short weeks (or less).

  • No babymoon planned.  My dr moved me to the " high risk" category today because I continue to have swelling following severe ovarian hyperstimulation following IVF.  I am totally exhausted and still am nauseated all day.  Not fun.  I would love to sleep all day.  On the positive side, the baby is looking great and is measuring 5 days ahead.

  • QOTW: we are taking our normal Christmas trip, slightly modified, as I will be seven months. We always go camping in Botswana, and I won't miss that for the world. However, we will stay in chalets instead of our tent, and stay out of malarial areas. Bummer, but it will still be lovely to be in the bush. Plus, last year, it flash flooded a couple of times while we were camping - all part of the adventure, but I'm secretly happy to be a wimp this year. The camps are all about a five hour drive from home, so not too bad - we can stop for lunch, stop for coffee, etc.
