We made it to a year! I am a few days late. LOL.
I wanted to thank all of you on this board for your support and encouragement! I don't think I would have made it without this place as a resource.
Going into it, I had no idea how much work breastfeeding would be. We had our bout of nasty thrush for a few months, and some other stumbles along the way that made it rough at times. As a mom that works full time in a very demanding job, it tought me to manage my time differently and prioritize my life in a new way. I have to say, my PISA and I have gone places together! Thank god for my nursing cover and my car adaptor! LOL. I also had no idea how much I would need to do to educate my healthcare providers on how to care for a BFing mama. That was really shocking but also interesting to me. Overall though, the experience has been amazing and I am so very happy I have been able to do this for my DD and myself. It has been one of the most fulfilling things I have ever done in my life.
We are still going strong, and I hope to continue until DD self-weans. She's still working through a milk protein allergy, so if she hasn't grown out of that, I'd love to keep providing her BM instead of WCM for the time being.
Thanks again to all of you for your advice, support, compassion and encouragement! ![]()
