i was OK with actually having to have a c/s after 23 hours of labor with a lot of ups and downs and 2.5hrs of pushing. what i'm not sure i'll ever be "over it" is the fact that i blacked out during it and have a period of about 8 hours afterwards that i don't remember much of anything. i don't remember seeing him for the first time, breastfeeding for the first time, watching my husband see his son for the first time. this is probably our only child, so it really hit me hard and 8.5 months later, i'm still really sad that i didn't get to experience those things.
That doesn't bother me at all. I think it might be because I went into labor thinking anything can happen. The only "birth plan" I had was that I was going to get an epidural. I figured you can't plan anything out. What matters is that the baby and I are healthy.
Don't get me wrong, I got scared when my time was up with pushing and I was going to OR. I was actually happy that I stuck with it and really tried. After the first hour of pushing I wanted to give up and wanted a c-section. I kept going for the next 2 hours. So at least I didn't give up.
