Anyone here made their own cloth diapers and inserts? I realy want to make some cute pockets with a hidden PUL layer. My sewing skills are fairly basic. I've made my own wet bag and cloth wipes. Just wondering what inner you've used, what for the inserts and honestly how hard it was! TIA

Re: DIY
No idea on the cloth diapers but I did see several patterns online while looking for liner fabrics (most were free too). There were also several sites to buy the snaps, the velcro, ect.
I am making liners out of Bamboo fleece and I also ordered some hemp/cotton knit and hemp/bamboo knit to make some inserts (I plan on doing 2-3 layers and then adding for night or so to the microfiber inserts that came with my pockets. I haven't received the fabric yet but that part seems super basic. I ordered my fabric on Etsy for a great price! I just spent an evening online and figured out what we'd need.
I am a newbie so I'm not exactly sure how this is all going to work but this is what I came up with after doing a lot of online reading! GL
I actually just sewed my first pocket diaper last week! And it fits! And doesn't leak! It is a fitted diaper that actually turned out the be the same size as my Fuzzibunz, so I just use one of those inserts since I have two, only use 1 during the day, and don't use cloth at night.
I am getting ready to try a new pattern that I think I will like a bit better. It will also be a fitted pocket diaper - this pattern is from the celtic cloth website.
I ordered my materials from Diaper Sewing Supplies. I used PUL for the outer (not hidden...I read something about not using cotton on the outside because it wicks and am a little worried about breathe-ablitiy), microfleece for the inside and I am using bamboo fleece for my inserts. I think I saw a PP poster mentioned jersey knit for inserts...I read this is ok too.
It's really fun! And not that hard.
But hidden PUL pockets are kinda tricky to make so they don't leak/wick. It would be easier/work better to just use a cute PUL for the outer. I like the Nykibaby pattern for one size pockets.
