I see these on pinterest all the time, but do you think they are safe? 

also, they wouldnt reach the table....

I never understood the point of these things like you said they can't reach the table.  I would just purchase a fisher price travel boster.  I got one for DD and it even has a small tray for when they are still in the highchair.  Here is a link https://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Healthy-Care-Booster-Green/dp/B004C43JJ4/ref=pd_cp_ba_0

Doesn't seem necessary if he can't reach the table, but it is cute

I imagine that babies eat some food off a table, but aren't you spoon feeding them for awhile...?
