Re: PG>35 Weekly Check-in

  • QOTW:  We live in a 2 story, single family home.  It's a 4 bed room with 2 and 1/2 bath.  For the most part, I love our house, although if I was made of money, I would redo the basement (layout could be better) and change the flooring upstairs.

Right now we are in the process of converting the upstairs 3rd bedroom from a guest room, to DS#1's big boy room.  Painting should be done this week, then we will put his Car bed together, add Cars decals to the walls, add a new dresser and nighstand, an area rug (cars town of Radiator Springs, roadmap type thing), shelving unit, toy box and small art desk.  I can't wait til it's done.  I think DS is going to flip!

We are also finishing up some other painting that has been taking forever to get done.  Main floor hallway, Entry, Stairwell and upper floor hallway.  After that is done (FIL is helping as DH sucks at painting and I can't do it all myself at 6m pg), we will just need to do the main bath and the master bedroom.  I should be able to get the bath done before baby #2 arrives, but the bedroom will have to wait til at least the spring.

Updates/vents:  Baby seems to be doing great, tons of movement just before bed each night.  Last night I think he was doing his gymnastics floor exercise...my belly was moving all over the place!  My belly is growing nicely and my doc has no concerns with my weight gain (I have gained as much already this pg as I did with my entire pg with DS).  Everything else checks out great.  I have my GTT scheduled for Thursday am.  Next OB appt is Sep 11.  I'll be 28w then...WOW!

We live in one of the most expensive cities in the world and as a result, we have a 2 bdrm condo that we own (wish we could afford a house!). It's only 2 years old so no renos are needed, though we do need a new system for our closet! Our condo is very open and about 1,000 sq feet. We love living here!

12 weeks today! I am pretty excited we've come this far and our first OB appt is this Wed. Our NT scan is next week and I'm really looking forward to getting more energy back! Hopefully the nausea and pasty mouth will go away soon also...

GL at your OB appt and with your NT scan.  It's pretty amazing at what you can see on a scan at 12/13w compared to 7w or earlier.  Enjoy the show.  As for the nausea, mine pretty much left right about where you are (11.5-12w).  Hang in there!

  • QOTW:  What type of home do you live in (House/Condo/Apt/Trailer)?  Tell us a bit about it.  Are you doing any renovations/home improvements before your little one arrives?

I live in a condo. It's a 2 story with 3bd 1.5bth, and it's older than me. I WISH we could do some remodelling before LO arrives, but we're currently stuck mid remodel in the full bath. We started a DIY project before I got pregnant, and it's looking good, but I just don't have the ooomph to help DH remove the old cast iron tub... and we can't afford a plumber to redo the plumbing in the wall that would need to be moved to accomodate the new tub. I'm hoping we can finish it up next year, but we'll have to see.

    Updates or vents?

my only vent is: I'm 4 weeks from my EDD, WHY do people keep asking me why I'm still working?!

  • QOTW: I live in a two bedroom condo.  I wanted to move but DH and my mom decided that it is a bad idea.  They don't think that I need to have the stress of moving or the bother of going up and down stairs with a newborn.  I am turing the second bedroom into a nursery.  I bought new living room furniture so that we would have a sofa bed when people visit.  I am planning on moving when the kid is about 6 months old if we can find a place that meets our needs.

Updates or vents: My MS is getting worse every day.  I hope that it tapers off soon.  I have my NT scan on Wednesday.  I am super excited about that.

Weird, I know lots of pg ladies that work right up til or past their EDD.  I guess I would rather people question me about that though, than have the 8 people (not exaggerating) that have asked me in the past week when I am due and them all being surprised when I say not til the end of Nov.  I grow big babies, what can I say?

We live in a 1916 bungalow - 3BR 1 BA 1300 sq ft - that I bought as a pre-midlife crisis about 9 years ago (turned 30, was very single, so I bought a house).  There are 2 BR's upstairs and DH will be moving his office out of the 2nd room upstairs so that we can have the nursery by our room.  The guest BR downstairs will become the office (he works form home).  I love the character of older homes - ornate plaster work, hardwood floors, stained glass, and built-ins.  Wish there was a 2nd bath upstairs, tho.

    Update:

M/s is still kicking my butt.  And the consitpation isn't helping me feel any better.  Oh well, hopefully things will be improving as we slide into the 2nd tri in a couple weeks.  I have a routine appointment on Thursday and my NT scan 8/29.  Wondering how much weight I have lost so far.  At least I was "fluffy" to start!  ;)

  • QOTW:
We live in a 2 floor cape cod, with two bedrooms upstairs and one down. Currently we are working on the finishing touches on DD's Big Girl Room (tm) (aka, the ex-guest room). And the upstairs room will be a craft room/office for a few months while we clean up the mess that is our unfinished basement.
The upstairs room is already decorated in a fun neutral jungle design that I plan to just keep for nursery take 2.
We also got new couches with a pull out bed so we still have guest space.

(We do want to move to some place a little roomier, if possible, before DD starts K next fall.)

    Updates/Vents:
No call last week, so glucose, and presumably iron, levels are good. Which means that some energetic little soul is taking sapping all wakefulness. Smile
I have my first "mid-month" appointment this Thursday. I want to ask if they can compare growth between this one and DD, since I feel like I'm as big now as I was at nearly full term with her.

  • QOTW: What type of home do you live in (House/Condo/Apt/Trailer)? Tell us a bit about it. Are you doing any renovations/home improvements before your little one arrives? We live in a 2-story cape code style home, 3 bed/2 bath. The upstairs bedrooms are enormous and the downstairs one was a home office (while I was working from home)/craft room. Now it's a guest room/craft room (with the crafting severely downsized!). There is a lot of work that could be done (both baths could use a renovation, for example!) but there's always something else to do with the money.

We didn't do much to the bedroom upstairs other than move the queen furniture out to make room for LO's stuff! We did paint, and put up white chair rails around the room to segregate the colors (I did a sandy brown on the lower third, bright sky blue on top - also because it's a cape style we have little alcoves where the window dormers are in both upstairs BRs, so I painted that area a grassy green and got those puzzle-shaped foam pieces to drop in there as his "play area" ... although who am I kidding, the entire house is about to become his play area and we all know it!

Updates or vents? I'm 3 days overdue. Bloody show this morning, followed by a trip to L&D, followed by a trip home. Ultrasound tomorrow morning though ... keep your fingers crossed for me, ladies! I am so nervous and excited to meet our little miracle!

  • We live in a one story, we have added on a larger living room, bed room and a utility room.  We will be remodeling the rest of the house here and there.  DH needs a break after two years of this, so next year the money goes to a vacation to visit my family in Florida :)

We own a 1923 Craftsman Bungalow.  Owning an older house is a lot more work than I thought.  We have a HUGE list of deferred maintenance items we want to get to at some point.  As for renovations for the baby - we are recarpeting the nursery, and that's about it. (and obviously, purchasing furniture).  We need to replace the front casement windows (they're those classic Craftsman windows with the 9 panels in each and are almost floor to ceiling - so they need to be restored, essentially).  We also want to redo the kitchen and fix the narrow plank wood floors in the living and dining rooms.  Yikes.  So much money.

    Updates or vents?

Had my 32 week appointment last week and found that the baby seems unaffected by my GD.  He's big, but overall big - not big in the way GD babies are.  Currently, he's in the 70th percentile and weighing 5 pounds.  They're not letting me go past my due date.  He's also in a transverse position, so I have a chiropractor appointment later this week to see if that might be helpful.  If he doesn't go to a head down position, they'll have to admit me to the hospital, do an epidural, try to move him - and then induce if it works and do a c-section if it doesn't.  I wasn't really a fan of those options, so my OB suggested trying a chiropractor.  I also have time.  Probably until 37 weeks - for him to move on his own.  But I'm pretty sure he's been in this position for awhile - because I can feel his outline.  Only 7 weeks to go as of today!

Home: I built my townhouse 2 1/2 years ago with Ryan Homes.  I love it.  It's in a great location within Pittsburgh.  It's city property but it's been grandfathered into my childhood school district (i.e. I pay way too much in property tax).  It's close to work, daycare, family, etc.  I got to pick everything out when I built, I decorated it myself and am finally almost done.  The last room not decorated is my bedroom because the ceilings are too high for me to even want to attempt to paint.  Eventually, I want to get hardwood floors in the kitchen/dining room and I'd love to finish the basement.  I just don't want to spend the $ right now with baby coming.

Updates/vents: I have 1 more 4 week appointment and I'm already onto 2 week OB appointments.  This is going so fast.  I pee  WAY too much.  I just want to sleep for more than an hour at a time.  I'm up that much to pee every night.  My son is sitting right on my bladder :(

  • Hi everyone! Congrats to all of the new mommies and good luck to those of you who are almost there! Can't wait to see pics!

QOTW: We live in a 4 bedroom, 2 bath Cape. It is actually the house DH was born and raised in. We moved in after we were married. Our housewarming gift was my MIL! All kidding aside, I am blessed...my MIL is a dream. (Both our Dad's passed 12 days apart about 2 years ago. So, when I got married a little over a year ago, we took MIL and my mom is living with my brother and his family.)  Paperwork in progress for us to officially purchase the house-- just waiting on the town and lawyers---ugh!

We have done lots of renovations so far. (That was part of the agreement to me moving in. Couldn't move into MIL's house and memories--- we needed a fresh start --and something other than white walls!) So now, we all see it as "our house." Living room, dining room, hallway to downstairs bedrooms,  mom's bedroom, downstairs bathroom,  and the hallway going upstairs all redone. New Sheetrock, paint, light fixtures, furniture, window treatments, etc. Bath was a full rip out. New furniture for living room, MIL's room, and the downstairs den.  Baby's room and our bedroom are the two upstairs rooms. There is a bath up there as well which desperately needs a ripout!  The bedrooms and hallway upstairs were both recarpeted right before I moved in. Our room was freshly painted and newly decorated before I moved in. Baby's room was just newly painted and furniture recently delivered. The last bedroom downstairs (we use it as a den) will be ripped out starting next week. Contractor tells us it will be complete in 3 days. Really the only thing we haven't touched other than upstairs bathroom is the kitchen which is only 12 years old. Not my "style"--or the style of the renovated house now, but we will live with it for a while. I would LOVE to restain the floors from their "bowling ally shine" to a darker color and get new dining room furniture, but again, that will wait. After the purchase finally goes through, we will likely give ourselves 2 years to rebuild our savings and then put a dormer up to give us 3 bedrooms and 2 baths upstairs. The basement is finished (1970's style!). Our home offices and another living area are down there. Eventually that will be redone as well.

Updates:  Had a pretty good week. No news on my GTT because my OB is on vacation...go figure! I called the office and they had results but nurse couldn't give them to me until my doc signed off. I will find out today. I have an appointment this afternoon. Praying hard I passed because the 3 hour will be torture on many levels--- the nasty sugar stuff and trying to fit it in when I only have like 5 more days to set up at work before the year starts.

Routine appointment with OB today. I will have a sonogram so I'm looking forward to seeing LO! Then, next Wed appointment with high risk doc where I will have official growth scan. Both appointments will focus on how to get me through going back to work. I started back unofficially yesterday setting up my classroom. I am hoping that how I felt after (lots of BH, tightness, pain in my pubic bone, lower back, and hip areas---plus just sheer exhaustion after only a few hours) is more from the moving stuff and bending than from being on my feet in general. My first official day back is 8/28 for meetings. First day with kids 9/4. So, I guess time will tell!

  • QOTW: What type of home do you live in (House/Condo/Apt/Trailer)? Tell us a bit about it. Are you doing any renovations/home improvements before your little one arrives? A fairly new house. No home improvements other than to paint and decorate the nursery. We pretty much have put the rest of the house together.

Updates or vents? Just waiting patiently and praying everything goes ok at our first appt next week (8/30) which is an U/S with a nurse practitioner. Symptoms come and go, but it seems food aversions is here to stay for now. :)

  • We have a very small 3 bedroom ranch, trying to decide if we want to try to sell and look for something bigger or make office/computer room into baby's room for now. We like our house, but the biggest con is only one bathroom!

Had a pretty good visit with my husbands family and attended a wedding of a dear old friend. Drinking a glass of cranberry juice w/sparkling water seemed to do the trick, everyone just assumed there was vodka in that drink.

Told all of the immediate family, they are all excited for us, I think both our mom's had given up on us.

Feeling pretty good - random nausea and indigestion that seems worse at night. I've also acquired the ability to fall asleep in a chair in about 5 minutes time.

We have a townhouse that is really spacy but only 2 bedrooms.  We're not 100% sure where the heck this LO is sleeping yet.  We are in the process of redoing our master bath and fixing our fireplace.  These are the last things that need to be done before we can put it back on the market and hopefully have it sell so we can get a bigger house.

    Updates or vents?

Update:  I had my amnio done yesterday to check for lung maturity and we are good to go for tomorrow's c/section!  Vent:  I was @ the hospital yesterday for almost 5 hours having amnio/NST done b/c I had to get a rhogam shot.  I'm O- and they had to type my blood to confirm that I was indeed O-.  That took 3 1/2 hours.  GRRRRRR!  It was a long day and they didn't feed me at all.

Updates or vents? I'm 3 days overdue. Bloody show this morning, followed by a trip to L&D, followed by a trip home. Ultrasound tomorrow morning though ... keep your fingers crossed for me, ladies! I am so nervous and excited to meet our little miracle!

Sounds like things are starting.  GL at the scan tomorrow.  Hope baby decides to make their appearance very soon!

Well, they say no news is good news.  I know you were hoping to find a "cause" of the exhaustion...there is one, it's called pregnancy...LOL!.  When I was pg with DS, I had energy from week 13 til about week 28 or 30.  It's just your body's way of preparing for you for years of sleep deprivation and exhaustion.  Rest as much as you can and hopefully you will catch a 2nd wind.

QOTW: I live in a two bedroom condo.

Wow CGITC, I can't believe that nt scan time is already here.  Wishing you an awesome scan on Wed.  I hope your peanut is a complete show off!

I actually feel like time is standing still.  I feel like I have been pregnant forever.  Even my coworkers are asking "how much longer" and I have to say 6 more months.

When you are in first tri, it does seem like forever, but once you get out of that and start approaching other milestones like feeling regular movement, being half-baked, your a/s and Vday, then time speeds up.  Enjoy it while it lasts, trust me, it is over before you know it.

QOTW:  What type of home do you live in (House/Condo/Apt/Trailer)?  Tell us a bit about it.  Are you doing any renovations/home improvements before your little one arrives?

You still have lots of time for him to move.  I read somewhere online that there are some positions you can sit/kneel in to try to get him to move...you might want to look into that.  Maybe the Chiro will do the trick.  I would avoid at all costs the doc trying to move him...OUCH!  GL, praying LO turns on his own and stays put once he assumes the position!

A lot of renos is right.  Practically rebuilt the house...LOL!  I'm impressed.

Hope the GTT test results were good and you don't have to worry about the 3hr.  I go for my test on thurs....also praying I pass.  GL on returning to work, I can understand it will be tough.  I've had a lot of pain this pg as well and some other issues that have had me off work at times.  Thankfully, I have a desk job and don't have to move around too much or stand too long, but working full-time and being 40 and pg is exhausting, especially when chasing a toddler around at home.
