New to The Bump

Hey ya'll! New here and starting Clomid.

Hey! My DH and I have been married for 3 years now and have been TTC since our wedding. We are in our mid twenties and VERY anxious and excited to be starting clomid this month. I've also been on Lexapro for 6 months now for anxiety/depression.

I went to my OBGYN for my very first "consultation" for fertility this past week. My Dr. prescribed clomid for 3 cycles before further testing. I know a little about clomid, but have never met anyone who has taken it. Any advice or suggestions would be super helpful!

  • I would suggest taking it at night as that seems to help with the side effects. Also, if your OB is not monitoring you (ultrasounds) while on Clomid then I would suggest seeing a Reproductive Endocrinoligst (fertility specialist) ASAP. Especially since you've been TTC for 3 years. If your tubes are blocked then you're wasting time on Clomid. A lot of OBs will hand out Comid like candy and that's not good...think about the possibility of high order multiples. Yikes! lol Or you could request tests before continuing more rounds of the med. I speak from experience as I wasted months with my OB only to find out Clomid wasn't doing a darn thing for me except making me feel awful. Good luck & I hope you get your BFP soon!

Don't walk off with a 3 month script for Clomid without going back to your doctor.

Have you had all IF testing done?  Has YH?

DO NOT take this med until you get testing done.  Oh and as PP said, see an RE!!!!!!

  • Welcome :) I too will be starting Clomid, but I was also prescribed Provera to help jump-start my period. Like you I know a little about Clomid as well. All I know is my dr and everyone else is saying to take it at night before bed!!!
    Good Luck

  • I myself was started on Prometrium and then took Clomid last month. With hearing about all the side effects of Clomid, I took it at night and had no side effects. I did end up starting my AF one week ago and it was extreamly heavy and painful which I was not used too.  Here is my question? My husband and I were intimate the day after my AF and now three days later I am spotting again. Could this still be my AF or could I be implantation bleeding from being intimate before my AF?

    Good Luck to you Ladies!!!!!:)

  • I was just lurking here, but I wanted to say that I have gotten pregnant twice on Clomid- once on the first cycle, and my second pregnancy was on the third.  I took it at suppertime (around 6 p.m. for me) and didn't have any negative effects other than mood swings.  Prior to using Clomid, we tried for two years and nothing- I don't think I ovulated that whole time but I didn't realize it.  Good luck- feel free to PM me if you have questions!
