"Gordo", "He likes his food", "Good Eater", "Doesn't say no to a bottle" and the one I most hate "FAT".
Fat? Really. Hes a baby! My perfect, healthy (yes, chubby) baby. Sure, he is on the larger size, at the 4 month appointment he weighted 19 pounds..but fat?! No.
He is having four or five (usually 5) 6 ounce bottles everyday and we have recently started cereal in the evening. We have also very recently stopped the mid night bottle.
I am tired of always hearing comments about his weight. I am a first time mom and all of the comments make me secretly question if I am doing something wrong. I don't think I am. But this is all new and I am learning as I am going so you never know.
Re: Recent Descriptions of my baby, lets start with "Big Boy"
And E's not even really that big, she just has chubby chipmunk cheeks. Fat is a good thing on a baby as they will need the energy for running around and during those picky eater times of toddlerhood.
Also, my husband was 26 lbs at 6 months after being born at 7lbs15oz. He turned out to be very slim as he grew older.
It's just like when you're pregnant, people are idiots and don't know what to say - so they say the stupidest thing they can think of:) I've heard it all too. Mine's on the other end of the spectrum and people are always asking when he's going to get "real food" (I EBF) ugh!
I wish no one else had experiences like this, but its nice to know im not alone, your responses are encouraging. Thank you!
It's starting to wear on me too, so I'm happy I'm not alone. Andrew is a big boy. He's 95% in both height and weight. Most of the time, people are commenting on how cute he is and how they love a chunky baby. But when some random stranger laughs at your fat baby, it hurts. They're just ignorant and think they're complimenting him, but they need to shut it.
I swear . . . . next time somebody calls him fat, I'm going to return with "So you two have something in common!"
