I first heard this name on Australia's Next Top Model a few years back and recently re-discovered it. I really like the nn Demi but DH does not like Demeter or Demetria. He is thinking about Demelza. It's a Cornish place name. Is it too weird? Any other ideas for a full name for nn Demi?
I know Demi is often used as a given name but DH and I prefer longer names with nns- besides, I'm a French teacher and couldn't use a word like 'demi' as my daughter's full name!
Re: Demelza?
Maybe its because I've had two beers tonight, but I like the sound of it. HOWEVER...
It is very different.
I think I have to let it sink in a little.
I'm sad your DH doesn't like Demetria. That's so pretty! I think that'd still be my fave of your three choices, but Demelza would probably be second. I don't like Demeter - it reminds me of the body part, ureter.
Demi is a lovely nickname. I really like it.
I don't dislike Demelza. I might have to think about it for a bit to decide for sure. It sounds a little bit like a Gypsy, or something Disney would use as for an enchantress.
You have me really like Demetria, though.
Demelza is the name of one of the Gryffindor students from Harry Potter!
I do like Demi as a nn, as pp have mentioned.
