I agree with the other mother- I think we should all mind our own business.
-and I'd be pissed if I were her too.
I'd be pissed if someone came up to me telling me that my child shouldn't be in a carrier ontop of the grocery cart- My kid. My choices. MYOB. Sorry you don't agree with them.
I completely understand that it's your choice to do what you want, but that assumes that you know EVERYTHING (maybe you do). If someone came up to me and said "you are wrong" it would probably rub me the wrong way too, but I don't *think* people speak up because they think they are a better parent, I think it's out of general concern for the child. Maybe that mother doesn't know that she is doing something dangers (or even against the law in some cases), and if you said something she would be informed and maybe change her opinion (or not) but at least she knows.
Going under your "my child my choice" statement mothers that choose to neglect their children are totally within their rights. Should everyone keep their mouth shut? Should the state not step in? After all you did bring the child in to the world, I guess your could take them out if you want... your choice as a parent right?
I am thankful every day that someone mentioned extended RFing to me because when I totaled my car, who knows if DD2 (about 20 months at the time) would have been injured or killed if she was FF. This is just an example, there are many things I am thankful for people mentioning to me, and other people who I wish wouldn't open their mouth. But in the end, either way, I am more informed. I can choose to ignore information I don't want to hear, but I can't accept and understand new information if it is never mentioned to me.
I guess if you want to be an ignorant uninformed mother that's your choice too (I am NOT calling you that, just making a point), but your child doesn't get a choice, and I guess that's where we differ.
Just saw what this post turned into. To some of the replies....don't act like you don't judge. Everyone judges! Maybe not on this subject, but you do in general. I totally don't get disregarding safety research if youve been provided with the information and I will judge that.
I might have turned my daughter at one year if it wasn't for the bump....oh wait, no I would have researched before making such a big safety decision. Thats my job.
