Re: Captain!

  • Hi!  Things are going well, thanks, just really busy.  Both boys were on the swim team through July.  When that ended, M started football.  The rest of my "free time" seems to have been spent at the Board of Ed building, arranging for and sitting through both of their full evaluations for their IEPs.  Thank goodness I don't have to go back to work until they are both in school!

That being said, the last couple weeks have been nice, because my husband is on paternity leave, too, so he's been able to share the load.  And, we're slated to go away the last week of August, just before school starts!

How are things with you?  I've been lurking from my phone (which makes posting quite difficult), so is Uganda a set thing then?

  • You know my employers laughed when they said, "and of course, we don't offer paternity leave." We weren't pregnant, but I as miffed! As if father-child bonding is ridiculous. America...

Annnyway, glad things are going well! IEPs and all that stuff seems so stressful, but I guess if they're really trying to help, then it's good. Right?

Uganda is a set thing! We're waiting for our biometrics appointment to be set, and I'm coaxing Stephen to finish our "desired child checklist." It's such an awful name, but it's nice to be able to make a lot more "acceptable" check marks than "unacceptable."

I just want to shout "you are all wonderful! But I'm not a great parent yet! I'm trying to stay positive about our limitations (a lot of them being financial, you know? What can we realistically afford in medical and behavioral care?). But really I just want to send a form with no "unacceptables" and see what happens. Of course, my DH, "the voice of reason," would never do that. He completes me!
