I will be moving back to Atlanta in September and will be four months pregnant, then. I'd like to find a good ob/gyn in the Decatur/VaHi/Midtown areas because we're most likely going to be moving to that area. The big thing, though, is that I would like a woman and I would like a doctor who will also be my doctor at delivery. I know that a lot of the larger practices will have any doctor on call at the delivery and I'm not quite comfortable with that. I don't mind if it's a small practice with two or three doctors and I'll have one of the two or three delivering, but I definitely don't want to have a random choice of one of six (or more) doctors. Any suggestions?

Hi there! Congrats on your "soon move" back to ATL & the LO. I HIGHLY recommend my doc, Dr. Leslie Pope. She was my OB/GYN pre-preg. Once I found out I was preggers, it was a no-brainer. She's awesome! She delivers out of Dekalb Medical but has a smaller practice with 2 other docs. They do rotate and she told me at my 8 week appt that she may not be able to deliver me because of the rotation schedule. But she said that later in the pregnancy I'll get a chance to meet the other 2 docs and become very familiar with them just in case.
If you go to this link and just type in "Pope" as the last name, it'll take you to her info. https://www.dekalbmedical.org/Main/PhysicianDirectory.aspx She's very experienced and has been practicing for many years. Her practice is named Perimeter OB-GYN Care in Tucker, GA which is like 3 minutes from Decatur and maybe 11 minutes from Dekalb Medical. The practice is very clean and her staff is exceptionally sweet & professional. I love this place!
I would not recommend Northside unless you are moving right near there and it is the most convenient. They are a baby factory! My friend had to deliver in the hallway because their was not enough rooms, and many times they seem to opt for C-section just to keep "the lines moving".
My OB/GYN is Dr. Lawson at Piedmont OBGYN (affiliated with Piedmont hospital). I love her! While there is no guarantee she will be the one on call when I go into labor, the office makes sure you meet the other four doctors and have appointments with them prior to your due date. The other nice thing is that they are all women.
Good luck with your move!
