Backache

This may be a dumb question but because I worry about nearly every symptom, I figured I would turn to you gals.

For the first time this pregnancy, I have had all day lower back pain! I plan on calling my doctor about it tomorrow but I am hoping it is just one more symptom that moms of multiples get earlier on and more intensely.  The pain doesn't come and go... it is just a steady ache.  My instinct is that it is because I have already gained 45lbs and my body just isn't used the extra weight.  But could it be something more serious, should I be concerned? Any remedies that have worked for you?

Thanks in advance!

  • My lower back has ached every day, all day since probably 16 weeks. My doctor said that because its twins, everything is going to happen faster and back pain is unfortunately unavoidable since all of the pregnancy weight is shifting your center of gravity and its all in the front so your back muscles have to work harder to keep you upright.

When mine is really hurting, I have to sit with my feet up and some sort of lumbar support. That usually makes it manageable!

  • My back and hips have been really achy for a few months now.... I have been taking warm baths and switching positions often between sitting on the couch and laying in bed with a pillow between my legs. I tried a prenatal massage which felt good at the time, but the soreness came right back the next day. GL.

  • I had back pain so severe I couldn't walk. When Tylenol, taking it easy, and a heating pad weren't cutting it and I literally couldn't leave my house, I told my doctor and she prescribed Flexaril, a muscle relaxer she said was safe for pregnancy. It made me drowsy, so I only took half a tablet right before bed. Still, I would wake up feeling much better, and as an added perk, it helped me get more sleep in the later part of my pregnancy when sleeping was a challenge.
