Trouble TTC

Update: IUI #2 numbers

IUI #2 went great! MH's numbers were better than last time, but still not great. 21 million post wash, 7 million after, with 67% motility. We are hopeful, as my lining was "beautiful" and the procedure went off without a hitch. Here's the thing..she gave me my paperwork, and it said I can't test until Sept 1!! Holy cow that's a long time! Yes, will be injecting Novarel (progesterone) at 3, 6, and 9 DPO, but still that seems like a long time to wait to test. That's 24 DPO!! What do you think?
Patiently waiting for our 1st since 9/2010.
Dealing with MFI, good count, good motility, 3% morph-HSG all clear, all other test results came back normal, IUI is our next step
May 2012- Clomid 50mg + IUI = BFN
June- Cycle Break
July- Forced cycle break due to cysts
August- Femara, Trigger, IUI#2= ?

Re: Update: IUI #2 numbers

  • Oh wow, could that be a mistake?  24 days I would probably lose my mind.  Won't you have gotten your period by then if it doesn't work?  Anyway fingers crossed for you.

If you're doing a full trigger shot (10,000IU) each time, I would say that seems about right, give or take a day or two. For some, it takes 13-14 days for the trigger to be out of their system so for you, that'd be 23dpo. Plus, I'm not sure if piggy backing them like that would make them linger longer. I'm sure they are just erring on the side of caution to avoid a false positive.

That said, it does suck and I would probably start testing out my trigger around 19dpo. To comment on what PP said, I would think if you have that much hCG in your system, then your body won't let you have a period until it goes down, especially it's keeping your P4 high.

  • Good luck!!  FWIW, my RE says she likes post-wash of 5mil+, so at 7mil it sounds like you're in good shape!

I agree that 24dpo sounds crazy.  Maybe she did the math/looked at the calendar wrong?

Well, I'm not injecting that much per time. I have one 10,000IU vial that will last me 6 injections, (or 2 months, 3 injects per month)..so I'm not sure why I have to wait that long. Maybe I will call and ask but I don't want to seem like some impatient twat..

Then, yes, that does seem odd. I'd call. Believe me, they get people who call all the time and it probably isn't the first time they've had that question. That's what you pay them for. KUP because I'm curious as to their reasoning.
