Just started cloth diapering, and was wondering if any of you use something for a hanging wet bag (for nursery) and/or travel wet bag that a.) isn't disposable or a grocery bag, and b.) doesn't cost $20+
daughter born June 2011 via C-Section, son born November 2012 via VBAC
I purchased this: https://www.joann.com/babyville-waterproof-diaper-fabric-dinos-monsters-3-pkg/zprd_11109477a/ (also sold in the store) and my mom sewed 3 small wet bags out of it with zippers. She folded them in half and sewed them together. They are the perfect size for my diaper bag. Also, my sister made me a small one and a larger one (that I could use in the nursery) with the same thing as above but different patterns by sewing together the solid piece and one of the patterned pieces. Much cheaper (especially with a coupon) than purchasing ones that are already made and they aren't too hard to do. I don't sew but I could have figured it out if my mom and sister weren't willing to make them.
I just made my own, some one from here said something about wool bags,so I give it a try and I made two of them,I bought a wool of yarn and I did a crochet bag after I finish the crochet I put a zipper and then I felt it,after I finish the bags I washed and lanolised it.
We use a pillowcase for the cans in our nursery and kids bathroom. I just throw them in the washer when I wash the diapers. I wash every other night so I haven't had any stink issues.
I have a Kangacare wet bag in the nursery that cost less than $20. I also have a smaller Monkey Foot Designs wet bag in my diaper bag that I got for $10 on a daily deal site.

I have a travel size wet bag from justsimplybaby.com that I love. It's very compact, so I prefer it for my diaper bag. The Mega size is $16, which is cheaper than a lot of others I've seen.
Re: Cheaper alternative for wet bag?
I got mine off of those deal of the day sites. We use it all the time, so whatever I paid was worth it
I'm very happy with my Cuteybaby bag ($10-$11, I got mine on sale for $9, on Amazon) and my 2 529 bags ($12/ea for the mediums I think).

I've been using 2 of these (alternating) for 15 months and they're still in great shape. You need a step pail, though. https://shop.dapadiapers.com/product.sc?productId=15
