XP: Roseolla experiences ?

LO got Roseolla last week. Fever started Wednesday and Thursday and was gone by Saturday. He broke out in the rash yesterday.....He is not eating well, but the main issue is his sleep is all over the place at night!!! He's gone from one wakeup to 6-7...literally up every hour crying and won't get back to sleep unless I nurse him. It's terrible! I thought once the fever broke, he would be back to his old self...but no.

If your LO had Roseola, when did they start sleeping better again? AFter the rash was gone?

TIA!

  • I have to say our experience wasn't that bad.  Hannah had 102-103 fever for 3 days and we didn't know what it was.  She was cranky and not herself but she slept pretty well.  The doctor said it was a virus.  Once the fever broke and the rash showed up then she told us it was roseola.  But after the fever, she was herself.  The rash lasted 2-3 days.  Good luck

  • OMG I could have written this post!  N's fever lasted 6 days and his rash lasted 4.  His rash was gone by Saturday.  He went from 2-3 wakeups to every half hour since his fever broke.  Now he wakes up crying and won't be calmed with anything but nursing.  I used to be able to give him a pacifier for 2 of the 3 wake ups and now, nothing but BF works.  He screams and screams if I try to soothe him any other way.  I don't know what is going on.  I let him nurse on demand while he was sick.  His fever was at 105 for 6 days.  I was too worried about dehydration to not so I worry that he is in a new routine but I don't know what to do!  I am so happy to read this!  Maybe they are still working the illness out?

Sorry I don't have any advice, just commiseration, but I am interested to hear what others say!

  • I think DD #2 had roseola sans the rash ( if that is possible) ... She had the high fever ( 103-106 with IB / tylelon every 3hrs )for several days and was a crank pot but no rash ever appeared took her to the ER  even cathed her to make sure o UTI (poor kid)and nothing they sent us home because she did not have any secondary symptopms .. no diarrhea, no vomiting  it was so frustrating and its happened twice now

  • DS had it a few weeks ago. He had a high fever (103 ish) for three days, then the fever broke and maintained around 99, then the next day he had the rash. We didn't know what was wrong until the rash.

Once they have the rash, they are no longer contagious and it's the end.

I think it was a couple of days after the rash went away that he started getting back to his normal eating/sleeping schedule.

    good luck!
