Re: Who does your hair?

  • I'm just trying to cover greys, so a home color job every 4 weeks does the job. Although, I'm not thrilled with my color lately and my hair seems flat and dull, so I've been considering a salon instead.

  • Sorry, the something else option erased.

I used to color at home then had a bad result so stuck with the salon.  Then I got laid off so did it at home and as soon as I got my job back went back to the salon.  But my hair hasn't been holding color and I felt like I was there all the time so decided to try to save some $ and have been doing it at home the past few months.  So far I've had compliments, but it still makes me nervous.  I've decided that if I decide to change anything drastically  I'll seek professional help.

  • My vote would be SS because my hair is done at home by my sister who graduated from cosmetology school but never went for her state boards. It's nice to get professional products & services for a fraction of the cost.

  • So far I haven't colored my hair. Over the past year more grey has started to come in, so soon I'll start coloring. But I'm waiting until after pregnancy (I'm sure it's perfectly fine, but since I haven't started coloring I figure it can wait a few more months). Then I'll do it at home, at least at first, since I'm happy to keep my natural color, just cover the grey.

  • My sister does my hair too, but she's a licensed cosmetologist who works in a salon. Family discount woohoo!

  • SS.  I have my sister (professional) do it unless I'm impatient & she's not available.  Then I do it myself at home.

  • SS - My mother is a licensed cosmetologist, does hair and skin stuff. She cuts my hair the rare times I want it done, and also did the last couple of chi straightenings I had done.

  • i get it cut at salons, but color it myself at home. Around here it costs like $150 just for highlights. I can't justify that, its way too much.
  • Salon only, dude.  I can't bring myself to risk the home highlights.

  • I love salon work, but I can't afford the $100 every 3-4mos like I used to. For now, it's Feria until we're done with daycare.

  • I posted about this yesterday but I am looking into going to a beauty school to have it done. The one by me is $25 for a dye or $45 for full highlights.  It is done by students who is supervised.   I can't afford the 150+ of the lady who usually does my hair.
  • I would starve before I missed a hair coloring appointment.  I'm sorry but it is just one thing I cannot miss.

  • I love going to the salon and just relaxing.  I go every 8-9 weeks to color my hair.  It's my "me" time.

I love salon time too but my color was looking drab after 5-6 wks and since I go lighter than my natural and my hair gros fast I can't make it 8 weeks.  :(
