I got a BFP immediately after going off the pill. I took my last pill May 16th and got a BFP 1 day after I was supposed to get my period (June 14th). Complete shocker! I had been on BC for 10 years straight, so we didn't think it would happen so fast! Good luck!

  • Went off BCP in January 2012. Had 4 longer cycles (between 31 days and 41) and got pregnant on 5th cycle. However, we were not being very prudent in trying.
    BFP 7/16/12, Due 3/23/13, DS #1 born 3/13/13 BFP #2 8/10/14, CP 8/16/14 BFP #3 9/16/14
  • It's definitely different for everyone. I was pregnant within a few weeks after I stopped taking the pill. I stopped talking the pill, had my period a day or so later, and haven't had one since (I'm 37 weeks pregnant). Some people will get pregnant in the blink of an eye, others I've heard of it taking 11 or 12 months. Just don't panic if it doesn't happen right away.

  • Well for me it took only 3 weeks or so.  I was not expecting to get pregnant the very first month I was off the pill, but 5 weeks later, the pregnancy test was positive and I am now 9 weeks pregnant.  We were on our honeymoon so we had sex pretty much every day for 12 days straight...I guess that was the trick for us.

  • This is my first pregnancy, but I was on the pill (first some low dose kind, then OrthoTri Cyclen, then Yaz) for almost 15 years or so?! So when DH (dear husband) and I were seriously planning when to start TTC I stopped taking the pill in November 2011 and we started trying May 2012. I recommend it if you have the time so your body can figure itself out...lucky for me my cycles became regular very quickly.

Once we started trying it took us three cycles because the first two I wasn't charting. It's harder to get PG if you don't know when you O.

Also, on the TTGP page there is a newbie link at the top. That, in combination with the bump glossary of abbreviations, helped immensely. You can learn a ton from the women on the TTGP board, but you have to be a little careful how you word your questions.

    Good Luck!!!

Hi!  Im Chrissy and Im new to this website as well as trying to conceive.  Im not a mom yet, but My husband and I started trying on Jue 30th (that was the last BC pill I took).  My question is- How long did it take you to get pregnant after going off the pill?  I would love to hear your stories!!

    Thank you!

Hey!!!  I can honestly say that it took me 3 months to become pregnant.  I had stopped taking the pill because I needed to lose weight and I had been on the pill FOREVER.  When we found out that we were pregnant on 6/13 (Friday the 13th go figure lol), it was a big shock because we were not trying.  Either way it goes, I am thankful because I was told that I would not be able to have any children.  You'll never know when it happens because it will definitely be unexpected!  Good luck and keep smiling!

  • With DS I was off the pill for a year, but we weren't really trying. We got PG with DS on the first try. This time around I have been off the pill for 15 months and we were actively TTC for 8 months.

i had always heard the rumors about if you're on the pill for a long time, it will take you a while to get pregnant... WRONG!

I was on the pill for 8 years and got pregnant 3 months after getting off - We wanted to start our family next year, and since i had been on it so long, i didn't want to hurt my chances of getting pregnant when we started trying... well no worries there!  I was traveling a lot during those 3 months so DH and I didn't have sex regularly...I was also working out 4-5 times a week, so i was probably the healthiest i've ever been and I was taking prenatal vitamins, so it was like the perfect storm!  We weren't trying, but we weren't preventing, and now we're expecting out first baby in march and couldn't be more excited!

LOL!!!  I can do you one better!  I was on the pill for 13 years and got pregnant 3 months after getting off! :)  I'm still wearing the look of shock on my face!  We are expecting out first child in March as well!!  Congrats!!!

  • 12 years - obviously, I had some issues Indifferent I was eventually told that I would not be able to ever get pregnant if it did not happen before I turned 34 (I turned 40 in March).

As several PP have said, start charting and remember that the odds of getting pregnant each month, even when timing is perfect, is ony 20%.

  • Hi There Big Smile

I went off in March. We tried April, May, and June. These months I downloaded an app so I could see my ovulation day. We decided to not be strict about it. With our schedules and busy lifestyle we didn't want to make the process "stressful" and over think everything.

So what we did was just do "it" when we wanted around those days. July we hit the mark a little closer and wham! That was it. We conceived in July and I'm now about 5 weeks!

Good luck and remember to have fun with it and not make it a task. I think that really helped us mentally.. especially for my husband. Yes
