We all have Whooping Cough :(

I am so angry right now. DD was coughing a few weeks ago but 2 different doctors couldnt diagnose as Whooping Cough. She has asthma so she was prescribed an oral steriod and then an antibiotic a week later when the steriod didnt work. I was worried that what she had was contagious because I had just had a baby. The doctor said "try to keep her away from him as much as you can" (yeah right) Then of course my 5 week old son started coughing. We took him to pedi and he wanted to test him for whooping cough just in case. He was positive for it. So of course I have it too because the hospital failed to ask me if I wanted it when I was there giving birth. I had a ton of complications, so I didnt think to ask for it. All we can do is take antibiotics and hope for a fast recovery.

I have no idea where DD could have picked it up considering she was vaccinated! What is the point of getting the vaccine if it doesnt work???!!?? 

I am so worried about both of my babies and there is basically nothing I can do for them

For you and dd it should be a fast recovery... (vaxes aren't 100percent effective)...tbh I would be very concerned w ur LO...did they catch it w.in the first week of symptoms?

Yes, it was within the first week. Its been about 2 weeks for DD and she is still having episodes at night. She had one last night that lasted 30 minutes. It was horrible (

It is horrible!  Ds had it last August...the fact that it was caught so early is really good!  hope they feel better soon!

So many people don't realize that you can catch and pass on whooping cough with the vax. I had it as a kid and was vax'ed. Hope your family feels better soon. No fun!

I remember reading somewhere about issues with the new vaccine. I guess they switched from the one most of us were vaccinated with to the new version sometime in the mid 90s. The report I read said that kids are showing signs of the new vaccine wearing off much faster than the old one did. They now recommend booster shots for older kids and adults.
