Ok, so there's no travel forum on the bump, and I can't exactly ask all the questions I want on the Trip Advisor forums, since its quite public and I don't want people to know I'm pregnant yet.
So first question - DH and I are looking to travel for a week this fall. We have Prenatal Classes November 17/24 which normally would have been the week we went. That means our other options are November 4-11 or December 2-9. Where I would be either 23 or 27 weeks. Which would be the better time? I have no idea what to expect with prregnancy.
Secondly - we found a great deal on flights to Curacao. Has anyone ever been there? How's the weather for either of the 2 above mentioned weeks usually? Where should we stay? (Since DH will want to be able to go out and about while I rest, I assume somewhere in the main town.) We have looked at Avila, anyone know anything about it? What is there to do in Curacao? (We're normally not the type to sit around on the beach, we want to do things; I know we'll be snorkelling)
Or is there anywhere else we should be looking at for the time mentioned above?
Thanks!
Re: When to travel? Anyone been to Curacao?
This is on my list of things to ask my doctor at my appt today. I have plans to visit my sister in New Zealand at Christmas, but I'm not sure if that's too late to fly that far...
Never been to Curacao so I can't be much help there.

I traveled at 28 weeks when I was pregnant with DD. I didn't have any problems. I think most doctors just don't want you to travel late into your 3rd tri. I felt great at 28 weeks and I am SO glad we took the trip we did..our babymoon, last real vaca before our first child was born!
As far as things you can do etc, remember you really shouldn't go zip lineing, or any of those type of adventures. I am sure snorkeling is fine.
Between 23 or 27 weeks I don't think there should be a big difference. I went to the Bahamas last summer for a week when I was 29 weeks and everything was great. I was big but not too big and felt good. I had no problem being in a bikini and I loved going. Most doctors say you are fine to fly until at least 30 weeks and often is more like 32-34 assuming you are having a healthy and normal pregnancy.
I haven't been to Curacao so I can't comment on that!

Well, I was able to get this sorted out... we're going November 25 to December 2. I should be 26 weeks here. I managed to get an awesome seat sale on the flight booked... $800 for the 2 of us non-stop, round trip.
Now I just have to plan everything else!

I am facing a similar situation. My husband and I were planning on going to Curacao in early November where I should be around 28-29 weeks. We are considering canceling our trip. I would like to go and my husband really needs the vacation. I am curious how the trip went at 26 weeks? Is there anything you would recommend doing/not doing?
Thanks.
I actually both work in the travel industry and have been to Curaçao. What do you want to know about the island?
We just got back from a trip to Mexico a couple weeks ago when I was 24 weeks. It was really nice and relaxing. I was able to go snorkeling, but ended up getting sea sick so that trip was not too enjoyable for me. I'm not sure if that was due to being preggo or not. The best part was being able to hang out in the water because it took some of the weight off of my back. I had one maternity swimsuit, but rocked the bikini with the preggo belly the majority of the time.
For DS I traveled up until pretty far into the pregnancy, like maybe 36 weeks. So you should be okay with traveling then as long as you are having a good pregnancy. Enjoy your trip!
