stop a solid due to diaper rash?

i was reading about solids yesterday and it mentioned stopping a solid food if it causes a diaper rash?  i hadn't even thought to consider that as a reaction .  one of my twins has been getting just a little bit of a rash/redness off and on since starting solids. i don't remember it being caused by a certain one but now i don't know. i figured it's just cause he's pooping a little more and it's different from the solids.  would you try to figure out if it's a certain food or is it not a big deal?

Re: stop a solid due to diaper rash?

  • Yes, I would try to figure it out... but I don't think I would make a huge deal out of it.  A red ring around the anus is an indication of a food allergy.  I would write down everything they are eating each day and see if you catch a pattern on what she ate on the day you see the rash.  It might be nothing - sometimes figuring out an allergy is hard.  But it's better/ easier now rather than wait until she is completely on a solid food diet and eating such a variety of foods.

  • I would try and figure it out. When introducing new foods, you should only introduce one new food at a time and feed them the new food for 4 days in a row to make sure there is no allergic reaction. My LO was very allergic to apples and she got a bad diaper rash that included little boils when she ate them.
