When do the polls close on the west coast?

Did they close at 8 or earlier?  It seems weird to me that the media was "calling" states just after 8 pm with less than 1% of precints reporting (although, some polls closed before 8 pm).  I would think it would be strange to be on the west coast and see who was in the lead before you got to vote ... if you were a late voter. 

My sister didn't get to vote here until almost 8 pm last night b/c the lines were so long when she went to vote in the morning and she had to go to work.  I can't help but think that her vote didn't count as much as mine b/c many races/proposals were already decided by the time they counted her vote. 

These are the things I think about in the shower in the morning.  LOL!
