weight loss after c-sec

I had my son just over 5 weeks ago and I am serious about getting my body back. I used to be very thin and fit (gym 4 times a week). I am getting back into that groove and my goal is 50lbs needs to go. That would put me at pre-IF weight. 2yrs of IF treatments made me gain weight before I even got pregnant.

Anyway my question is this - I am breastfeeding and my boobs are big sore size E's. What would be a good cardio exercise that wouldn't make them jiggle (= hurt)?

Get yourself a GOOD quality, supportive sports bra first. Check out what Title 9 Sports and Moving Comfort have to offer. In my experience, the Moving Comfort Fiona is an excellent, supportive sports bra that's also conducive to nursing (velcro straps), but they have others that may work for you, too. I was a 34DD (same as 34E) at the time. Cycling (outside or gym) or elliptical (gym) or swimming are all great cardio exercises.

What kinds of exercise were you doing at the gym before? Were you exercising at all during your pregnancy? And, talk to your doctor to make sure you're ready to get back into a workout routine. My doc had me wait until the 10wk pp mark (for running and cycling) after a c/s. Once you've been cleared and you have the proper 'gear' (aka sports bra), go for it!

  • Don't focus just yet on losing weight, but strengthening your core.  Especially because you had a c-section, your goals should be getting the muscles of your abdominals strong, especially your deep abs because they have been severed, stretched and likely unable to be engaged due to the increasing pregnancy weight and lack of mind/muscle connection from the surgery.

Here is a webTV feature I did last week to get your started.  Focus on rehabilitation first, then you can get into running and all that great cardio stuff :)
