NB Dipes Are Too Big!

I have GMD newborn PFs and Thirsties XS covers on my 8lb baby and she can't put her legs together. She just lays there like a Thanksgiving turkey with her legs in the air from all the bulk. What am I doing wrong??

What fold are you using?  I found that the bikini twist was a little trimmer between the legs for a newborn but probably more importantly - is baby uncomfortable?  There's certainly no rule that baby needs to have her legs together or on the ground, if she's ok then I wouldn't even worry about it.

I used that combo on DD when she was 5lbs 11oz, and she was just fine. I did use the bikini twist then (switched to angel wing at about 7lbs) and had to fold down the back because the diapers were actually too big on her. Once they wear the diaper for a few minutes the middle kind of squishes together and she could put her legs together just fine.

I found that happened with DD too (and I hated it! ~ it's the only thing I didn't like about CD)... As she is getting bigger, it's  not as big of a deal.  I think next time I may order a few more NB AIOs.

I think I can picture what you mean. I'll look it up. I don't necessarily know she's uncomfortable - it just looks that way.

Yup. That's how prefolds fit on a newborn.  That's why I liked my GMD fitteds, aios, and small gdiapers a lot better, and only used prefolds when I was desperate for dipes...and why I won't be using them again on the next baby (I'll buy more aio or NB pockets).  R

The bikini twist helps some, but bulk is just part of using prefolds,
