Cloth Diapering

Getting rid of yeast

After treating a bad rash, my pedi told me to disinfect our diapers by putting white vinegar in the rinse and drying in the sun, but a quick Internet search makes me think that these approaches will be insufficient to really kill yeast. How do you disinfect diapers when needed? We use prefolds, fitteds (mostly natural materials - kissaluvs, mother ease and a few WAHMs) + covers, and a few bg elementals.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Re: Getting rid of yeast

  • A LC friend of mine told me to use grapefruit seed extract to cure the yeast. I'm taking it in pill form, swabbing it around the baby's mouth diluted in water, spraying it on his diaper area, swabbing my nipples with it and putting it in the wash. I'm holding off on the bleach to see how the GSE works first.
