DS is jumping with both feet off the ground!!! This is so huge! The other day I caught him jumping on his bed and had one of those "normal" moments we've talked about sometimes. It felt great
A few days ago DS started petaling his trike more than a few feet for the first time. He rode the two short blocks to the park and home. Yesterday he happily rode around our cul-de-sac saying hi to the neighbors who were out.
Auntie, has he checked with the local hospitals? When my sister finished school (she went to one that "ended" at age 21), her school helped her find a program through one of the hospitals - they train them based on their abilities and then place them to work part time in various departments in the office ranging from maintenance, food service and general office work. My sister does mail and filing in the risk management office and recently celebrated her 15 year anniversary there. Some of her higher functioning classmates have also been able to be placed there doing similar office work. Maybe something like this exists where you are.
Hmmm, let's hope he doesn't go down that path. Maybe it'd be good to keep an eye on this to make sure this classmate doesn't become a bad influence. I know he's his own person and has to make his own choices but a little looking out never hurt anyone. ;-)
Re: Wednesday Brags! (a bit late)
New to the board but I am guessing we share something we are proud of....
My DD watched me for two days sing the itsy bitsy spider and I thought she didn't care much....
well I caught her in her chair doing the hand gestures and making sounds (she doesn't talk yet)
so proud!
DS 09/2008
Thanks!
