So we picked out a few baby names that we kind of liked, and apparently when I told my family, they didn't like them!
I mean I know I shouldn't really go by what anyone says, but I still want people to like my son's name and not think it's ugly!
Now I'm confused and not sure about the names myself, but I just don't like anything to pick from!!!!! HELP!
Re: Everyone hates our names!
Well I never shared my names with people IRL due to this. I made the mistake of doing it once with my sister and her reaction was enough to make me not do it again.
What are your names?
Remember that once the baby is here, opinions seem to change when it comes to the family.
Eff 'em.
What are the names?
If you love the name you ultimately pick for your child, that's all that matters. You cannot make everyone happy (nor should you try, this is YOUR child).
My guess is, once they hold your little bundle, they'll forget all about how much they disliked the name at first. My dad didn't really like Olivia at all when we first told him, but he's in complete love with her and her name now.
Eh, it doesn't really matter if anyone else likes the name, as long as you feel good about it. I never share names IRL, bc people can be so opinionated and just downright rude about it. Let's hear your choices though!
I know I shouldn't care about their opinions.... but I do a little
Here are some of the names, I think I posted them on here once before;
Lucas
Gabriel
Jonathan
Nicholas
Joshua
Those are GREAT names! What's wrong with these people? Are they offering suggestions? I am curious what they think is a good name.
I was expecting something like Pilot Inspektor, what's their beef with these? They're all great names. I actually can't find anything negative to say about eve one of these. Stick to your guns, you have great taste!
Fwiw, this is the reason we kept our twins names pretty dl until birth. Its unfortunate that parents-to-be have to do that, but some people's remarks can really hurt. I didn't want to deal with that. I made the mistake bouncing names off my mom and aunts early on and they had nasty things to say about all of them. Lesson learned!
Um, dude. These are all really nice names.
DS is Nicholas. I love love love his name. My second fave on your list is Gabriel. My third is Joshua and Lucas, tied.
I mean, you cannot go wrong here. At all. I have no idea what is up your family's butt, but there is nothing to hate about any of these.
12/1/11 BFP, missed m/c diagnosed @ 9w2d
Henry Cavill...You're welcome!
BFP #3: EDD 1/10/13 **DS born 12/30/12!!!**
BFP #2: MC 7/2/11 @ 12 weeks
**Missing our February '12 LoveBug**
BFP #1: MMC discovered on 12/6/10
What?! That is the most tame, safe list I've seen in a long time. What are people looking for? Peater? Aydin? Mykell?
BFP #2 - 3/2/13 * DS1 - BORN ON EDD - 11/13/13
BFP #3 - 11/7/14 * DS2 - BORN ON EDD - 07/21/15
And this is exactly why we didn't tell people when we'd picked out our DS's name ... even going so far as to give them fake possibilities and then laugh maniacally in my head when they put their (almost always negative) two cents in.
The names you mentioned are classic and I can think of a lot worse - and yu-neek - names you could saddle a child with.
I say either have some hormone-fueled fun with them or make them wait in suspense and REALLY drive them crazy by not knowing
I didn't slap you; I high-fived your face.
those seem pretty normal to me, what was their problem with them exactly?
Are you kidding? What's not to like? These are great names!! Don't listen to them. I wouldn't share with others, though, if you are not liking the feedback. It will only make you second guess yourself and with names that are as nice as these, you don't need to second guess yourself. Jeez, it's not like you are picking some crazy name!!
These are all great names. Don't worry about what they say, and if I were you I wouldn't talk to them about names again until you're introducing them to your baby. Our line is always "We've got a few we're thinking about, no decisions yet"
Everyone will have an opinion. If you are affected by negative opinions then you probably will want to keep your choices to yourself. FWIW, I think those are great names!
Really? I was expecting really different names! Those are all great, classic boy names in my opinion. Good choices!
Out of your list my favorite is Lucas.
People on here will even give you mixed reviews. Some will love a name and some people will overly give you their opinion on how much the name you chose is awful. It can be disappointing, which is why we keep the name to ourselves IRL. It isn't like your list has unique names with you-neek spellings. Go with what you love. They had their chance to name kids, now it is yours and their opinion really doesn't matter.
That's why I am not sharing.
I'm sure my mother will still say something rude when the baby is here but there will be no changing my mind once the baby is out.
All of those are really normal names I'm surprised they reacted that way! I love the NN Gabe.
ezra everyday
I do think that if you can be easily talked out of a name, it might not be the right one. However, I just told my family that it's my kid so I can name it whatever I want. The name we ended up deciding on, they actually do like though.
