Special Needs

Stree, Patience, etc. Techniques and Book Rec.

Hi.

Like many mom's of children with special needs (and twins), my stress level is quite high and although I often go through cycles of being able to control it, it's become much more challenging as of late and I was wondering if you have any book recommendations or strategies you use...

I react to quickly, often without thinking things through...I tend to yell and am not very patient (especially when in time crunches, getting ready in the mornings, etc.)

My daughter has isgnificant behavioral concerns (still undiagnosed per age, 3) along with delays in all major areas.

Thank you for your assistance.

  • I am in the same boat.  My DS frustrates me endlessly with the way he is.  I don't have any books for you but I heard a line in a song the other day that has been my new mantra..."things won't grow unless you bless them with your patience."

It's a First Aid Kit song- I believe the song, "Emmylou".  You should listen to that song, it's very relaxing, super beautiful and great lyrics.  When I get my kids to bed, I turn on some good music, lay on the ground and stretch/meditate.  It helps a lot.
