My line really isn't getting darker

Humor me:

I know a line is a line. And, I don't have AF so I know I'm pregnant. And, maybe it's a tad darker than Sunday. But I've tested three mornings all with positives and they are not growing in intensity.

You think I've wouldn't worry, but I do. My other girls' lines got darker after a day or two.

Anyone else not have darker, intense lines at all?

Oh and the last digital I took was Sunday morning saying Not Pregnant. No more digitals in the house.

Re: My line really isn't getting darker

  • They say the intensity of a line doesn't mean anything but with my own personal experience I feel like it does.  My first 2 pregnancies were chemicals and the line was always faint, never got darker and after about 3-4 days of positive tests, they were back to negative.  This time around they were faint for a few days but then started getting darker.  If your testing early it's still possible they may get darker in a few days so don't lose hope yet!

  • I am sure everything is fine. It looks like you're really early on, which explains to me he faint lines.
If you need reassurance you could call your doc to get your levels checked if you really want to, or maybe wait until next Sunday and take another .

    Congratulations!

Thanks. I do see a difference, but nothing like DD1 or DD2. I've got positives since Sunday. So, it's three days of lines, but negative digitals. I'll be buying another box, I'm sure. DH is gonna frown lol

  • I tested several times over a period of 4 days, and my lines never got any darker. I was sure I was having a chemical pregnancy, but I didn't start bleeding. My OB ordered a beta and progesterone test and my hcg level came back fine. Three days later it had doubled, so I guess the tests I was using weren't detecting the changes in my hormone levels.

My digi did read Pregnant, though, so that's how I kept my sanity. Have you considered trying another digi?

  • I actually didn't even get a readable positive line (that I could see without squinting) until I was 4 weeks like you. Before that I tested once or twice and got BFN's. I agree with pp, re-take a digital and see what it says now. My lines eventually got darker, but for the first few days they were really light so I was worried. But, once I got to six weeks my test line was darker than the control line!

  • My lines took a couple of days to get darker. I waited until 4 weeks to test with the digital and it did say pregnant. I would suggest stop testing, but I know that's easier said than done!

Yes, much easier said than done.  :)

  • I was a POAS addict. Here's what happened with my Wondfos:

    9dpo: really faint squinter line

    10dpo: faint squinter line

    11dpo: faint line (betas done - 48)

    12dpo: light line

    13dpo: medium-light line (betas done - 150)

    14dpo: medium line

    15dpo: medium line

16dpo: relatively dark line, still not as dark as the control

    17dpo: same

18dpo: finally a line as dark as the control

As you see, it can take a while, and I was shocked at how light the lines were that I got when my betas came back at 150.

  • At 4 weeks your hcg level is still probably really low. The foods you eat could be affecting how diluted your urine is, even FMU. I would wait two days and test again, and pick up a digi for sanity. Something could be going wrong, but hopefully not.
  • Wait a few days and test again.  I tested three mornings in a row, the last three mornings of my 3rd week and got faint lines.  There was only a tiny difference in each line.  I knew it was early but couldn't help being worried.  I decided to wait three days and test again, that was week 4 day 2.  I ended up not being able to wait until that morning and tested the night before and the line was nice and dark.
