Went to the doctor this morning and she read off my anatomy scan results. Good News is all baby's measurements were great and everything regarding him was normal.
They did find that I had a cyst on my umbilical cord. My doctor is wrote me a script to see the high risk doctor and get a high risk ultrasound too. My doctor told me not to worry, but I can't help it. I googled "umbilical cord cyst" and the info freaked me out. I'm glad I stopped reading....
Has anyone had this before in previous pregnancies?
Re: Umbilical Cord Cyst
I had the same thing happen to me, only I was already referred to a high risk doctor and while I was seeing him (just for a consultation due to my gestational diabetes), they did a level 2 ultrasound and heart echo and that's when it was found. He told me the same exact thing you were told: Not to worry too much, everything looked completely normal and as long as my baby continued to grow at a satisfactory rate and the cyst doesn't start to affect blood flow to the baby, that it won't affect my pregnancy at all. It was hard for me not to worry as well and I went straight to google after my appointment (BIG mistake lol), but after a few days, I went back and saw my midwife and she reassured me that the particular doctor I saw was always extremely cautious and if there were ANY reason to be worried, he would have recommended that I have an amniocentesis, as well as other further testing. Try not to worry too much! Good luck to you and your sweet little one!
