I also posted this on the eco-friendly board, but I thought I'd try here as well
So, we bought the Arms Reach Co-sleeper mini, and a Dax organic mattress (the organic ones that you can buy directly from Arms Reach are on backorder until late Aug and our baby is due in July). Has anyone used the Dax mattress? It doesn't have the hard backing or safety straps like the orginal crappy/toxic one that comes with the sleeper. SO now I have to decide, chemicals vs possible increase in suffocation risk bc it is not the original mattress and seems "fluffier" ?? Anyone have words of advice?
Re: xp: Dax organic mattress for Arms Reach Co-sleeper?
The Bebe Safe cover seems to be the best way to avoid any toxicity if you are worried about it.
Have a read about it...

I think that it's a highly political subject. Industry and the lobbying efforts of the same are highly influential in terms of what becomes mainstream knowledge.
Since this one intervention dropped the Maori SIDS rate to zero, I believe that it's significant. I would love to see this study repeated with low SES american families too. Would be fascinating if the results could be duplicated and perhaps gets more attention.
I found that doing this was simple and gave me great piece of mind.
Thanks for the discussion! I appreciate your perspective
