Face Issues

Over the last 2-3 days, my face has developed this patch of dry skin. It's somewhat bumpy, itchy, and flaky when I scratch it. It's grown in size each day (starting on my jaw line and it's now moving up my cheek) and I'm beginning to worry that it will take over my whole face!

Has this happened to anyone else? If so, did you find any remedies to cure it? Should I be worried?

  • I'm not a Dermatologist but that sounds like Eczema to me. I've had it on my hands forever, and I have heard that it can spring up with you're Pregnant.

This. I wouldn't be too worried but would probably make an appointment with a dermatologist, or at least bring it up with your OB if you have an appointment soon.

  • I don't have an answer for you but suggest having your doctor look at it ASAP. Last week my mom had a couple red itchy bumps pop up on her face... she thought it was an allergic reaction to a med she'd just started taking and treated it as such (Benadryl/cortisone cream)... when it didn't go away after 24 hours she went to the doc & it turned out to be shingles! They ended up having to cancel a planned trip to visit us last weekend since it can be dangerous for pregnant women to be around someone with shingles. :-

    Dear Baby Pacheco...
  • I've been having some skin issues as well. Heading to the dermatologist tomorrow. Sounds like you have eczema. I'd call the derm.

If you think it's eczema try Aveeno unscented baby lotion.  I've had eczema off and on my whole life and don't like to take the cortizone cream they give you for it (it thins out your skin) but I've found on even some of my worst eczema patches that the Aveeno baby lotion works wonders.  Clears it up in just a couple days.  It has to be the unscentedone though cause the scent just irritates my super sensitive skin more.

  • Thanks for the responses! I do have an appointment with my OB next week. I'll keep an eye on it over the next couple of days, hopefully it starts to clear up. I'll talk to my doc about it next week.

I looked up shingles. I temporarily panicked, but it's nothing like that. You honestly can't even see the bumps, you can only feel them and they're suuuuper small. To be honest, I've been scratching that area of my face (probably not the best idea) and while my skin is still flaky, the bumps seems to be disappearing a bit and my face is feeling a bit more smooth. WEIRD. I'll definitely keep an eye on it and if it gets worse in the next day or two, I'll make an appointment with a dermatologist.
