Anyone else super itchy?

I am itchy from head to toe.  No rash or bumps--just incessant itching.  I talked to OB about it at my appt. yesterday, and he confirmed what my Google searches has mentioned--raging hormones.  I feel like a wild animal wishing to rub against a tree or roll in the mud.  I certainly hope this passes soon.

Are you using lotion after your showers?  You have a window (pregnant or not) of about three minutes from the moment you step out of the shower to dry off and apply lotion to get the moisture locked in.  Try one of those 24 hour lotions.

  • I was itchy and took a Claritin, it seemed to help.  I also switched my daily lotion to Vanicream.  One of the two seemed to work.  I think it was allergies for me.
  • YES YES YES YES YES!!! I had this with DS pregancy and again now, and its flppin miserable. Last time I had it until the very end. The only time I dont itch is when im in the shower/pool/bath. And for realz, nothing helps, its hormonal so nothing topical will do a darn thing. My palms and soles of feet have it the worst, but legs, arms back and belly def have their fair share as well. FLIPPIN TORTURE, this is the one thing that made me really have to think hard about getting pregnant again. And might make this one my last. The only thing I have noticed is if I start scratching it just gets worse, so I try to fight the urge, and then I also lotion up alot if i have been scratching just to try to heal the skin.

  • I am using lotion, but mainly as the above poster indicated to protect the skin--it doesn't help the itch.  It is beyond annoying!

Totally NOT trying to freak you out, but the itching on your palms and feet you need to tell your dr. With my first I waited to say something and then found out I had cholestasis of pregnancy which is very bad if untreated. I had to be induced at 37 weeks because of it.  It could be nothing but you really should talk to your DR ASAP about it.  Regular itching all over is hormonal but your hands and feet is the number one indicator of Cholestasis.  PM me if you have any questions!
