We are transitioning out of the swaddle. Right now it's just wrapped around his belly. We keep the air at 76 overnight. Does DS need a sleep sack right now, or will it be too warm? I know we'll definitely need a heavy duty one in the winter.
A&A makes lightweight muslin ones. I really love sleepsacks because I feel like they are another cue to DS that it's time to go to sleep.
And as for winter, unless your house is 50 degrees, you don't really need a heavy duty one - I think regular weight cotton is just fine, especially because they will be in footie jammies too.
Married 08.06 Started TTC 05.08 Me: Stage II endo, borderline high FSH DH: perfect 1 lap, 5 IUIs = 4 BFNs and 1 c/p 2 IVFs, 2 FETs = 1 BFN, 1 c/p, 1 ectopic and finally a sticky BFP in May 2011!
We have an a+a one, a cotton halo, and a fleece halo. I match his footed sleeper accordingly with the sleep sack. (Lighter sleeper=fleece halo; heavier sleeper=a+a; etc).
I got some material at the fabric store today and am going to try to make one. The material and zipper were on clearance, so it should only cost about $6 total!
76 degrees is really pretty warm. (I think the AAP recommends something like 65-68 for reducing SIDS - which seems absolutely frigid to me!) According to the baby monitor, our daughter's room is usually around 72. When we stopped the swaddle, we tried the cotton sleep sack with a onesie, and she would be drenched with sweat when I went to go get her (after she didn't sleep very well). Now we just use pajamas. If it's been relatively nice, she's in light cotton footed pjs. If it's been really warm, we just have her in a shirt or onesie and diaper.
We have an A+A sleepsack but don't use it anymore.
We keep the house at 76 and the fan is going in her room. She sleeps in footed pajamas, but was waking up sweaty with the sleepsack, so we figured she was big enough not to need it anymore.
