boils :(

I had a miscarriage in October and ended up having a horrible boil on my behind about a week after. It was so bad and huge that my doctor couldn't lance it and ended up sending me immediately to the hospital to have it drained by a surgeon.

If child birth is less painful, then I'm all set...

Anyway, I have developed 2 more on my bottom and they are extremely painful. My doc wanted me to hot pack them for a few days to see if they would drain on it's own. My OB had said that hormone fluctuations can sometimes cause funky skin conditions and that boils can be common during pregnancy.

 Anyone else suffering with these?

Re: boils :(

  • yup, I have one that will just not go away - it comes and goes.  Ugh... they are awful!

  • I have the same problem! I feel like every time I get rid of one, another one pops up. My dr said (in a very nice way) that because I have a bigger rear end, on hot days, it gets sweatier; and since I have a desk job, I'm sitting all day. He said that, even if they're gone, I should still occasionally put a warm washcloth on my rear.

I feel your pain. Let us know if you have any other tips to get rid of them!

    Good luck!

  • oh man!  that sounds terrible!  I had a boil once a few years ago and holy crap it was terribly painful and disgusting.  I'm sorry you're having to deal with this and hope it goes away soon!!

Is there a special soap or another preventive measure you can try?

  • They are just horrible things! I have been very careful about using new towels, cleaning that area, sleeping w/o bottoms or loose ones to keep ventilation.

The best thing I just figured out seems to be a sitz bath! My friend just had a baby and needed one and she was telling me about it. I immediately bought one and it is so great to soak your behind in and much more convenient than getting your whole body in a tub.

Just got out of my sitz and one finally started to drain- wooo hooo! Jumping (almost) for joy here! Immediate relief. Totally recommend one of those if you are also suffering.
